Well, with the nvidia-glx you get the famous black screen. AFAIK,
GeForce4 440 Go requires the legacy drivers, and it does actually
work, sans the APIC.

I just got this same problem. I do not have any wireless configured, I
am connected to a LAN router. I did not lose connectivity after the
crash, and I am in fact writing this from my Kubuntu system, that seems
to work fine.

There are essentially three sets of supported nvidia drivers provided by
NVIDIA (see

I realized I also had this problem on my laptop with edgy.
In both cases I could fix my problem by changing /etc/network/interfaces :
My home computer now only has got

The problem is num lock getting turned on. In my laptop when num lock is
on characters such as U,I,O,P,J,K,L,M gets translated as
4,5,6,*,1,2,3,0.
And while trying to login in tty2 I was able to turn off num lock and
login, in graphical mode that wasn't possible.

This is caused by not all the required modules being loaded. There must
be some bug in the dependencies.
sudo modprobe blkcipher cbc aes dm_mod dm_crypt
Also, make sure that cryptsetup, libdevmapper and dmsetup are installed.

I hate to be a me too, but... me too, was there before Fiesty, now gone.
In my case Log put takes you to a log in screen, and from there you can
choose Options Shutdown, not my preffered method...
This set up is AMD64, Fiesty and there is Gnome, Xubuntu and Kubuntu
installed, Kubuntu is default
