Looking at the backtraces I'm still not convinced we are all talking
about the same bug. Mine manifests reproducibly playing a low def video
after a high def video (but not the reverse).
I'm going to attempt to attach two samples low.mpg and high.mpg. These
are just a few seconds long and 2.5MB ea
We have ATI, nvidia and intel cards here, so this bug is probably not
specific to any hardware.

It defies the imagination that ubuntu is distributed without the means
to a compiler (build-essential, and it's dependencies does not need to
be installed by default, but should be installable off the cd).

I have the Xchat-chats plugin active and an IRC account active. Once my
account has been set and a few channels added, if I restart Pidgin it
won't start.
Starting pidgin from command line shows:

I'm marking this bug "Invalid" at the request of the Debian Maintainer.
This behaviour is the expected behaviour of beep when in an envronment
which requires access to event0, and -e should be used in that case.
