Since updating to Ubuntu 20.04, I have lots of problems with sound input
and output coming from the wrong device or even a device that is not
turned on. For example, right now in gnome-control-center sound settings
it recognizes three sound output devices - internal speakers,

internal speakers in gnome-control-center, but sound will only come out
of the wireless headset.

I think that I am having the same or a similar issue. When I plug in a
headset, some sound comes out of the headset, but other sounds come out
of the internal speakers. I think that the reason for this mix instead
of the behavior that the bug reporter is observing is that at some point

I just did a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on a brand new dell
Latitude E7250 laptop and it won't boot claiming No boot device found.
I chose to completely overwrite the existing Windows 7 installation and
to encrypt the entire installation. If I boot from the USB stick,

I have glipper installed and recently updated to precise pangolin.
Regularly, I get a message that glipper died after logging in to my
machine. The little glipper icon remains in the bar at the top of the
screen, but it is unreactive. This sounds pretty similar to the

have selected adding eurosign to certain keys with the number 5
selected as the key. I also have the compose key set to right win. I
have tried in gedit after making the change right alt + 5, left alt
5, ctl 5 , right win 5,
OK, the enable extra typographic characters workaround works, but only
if you choose a 3rd level chooser key. The add euro option doesn't
seem to do anything even if a chooser key and a composer key are
selected.

No, I don't have the proposed repository activated. But I recently (~a
week or two ago) reconfigured X so that I could switch between laptop
LCD and external monitor (see bug #247342). Perhaps I never noticed the
problem before this or something I did related to monitor switching
caused it??

Reconfiguring the X server worked. Thanks very much for your help - I
have had this problem for a long time, but never had the time to submit
a bug report. This will make my life much easier.
One comment though: I am seeing the same problem as bug #238215 - I am
only allowed to clone screens, I
I followed the suggestions of bug #238215 and manually edited xorg.conf
to add a subsection Display with Virtual directive. This allowed me
to dual head.

When I open smb:/// in a nautilus window, it now shows no networks or
machines using a Hardy Heron machine with the latest updates. I have
checked on the same network using a gutsy machine and it shows a ton of
machines. I also know that the Hardy machine at one time showed
