Actually, it is still an issue under karmic, even though it has changed.
I have a fresh install of karmic on my Samsung now and it won't suspend
to disk at all. The only thing that happens when I hit the STD-Button is
that the screen is locked, but nothing more.

No, on my computer, the bug does not seem to be related to the length of
the file. At least, at the moment, I can't get it evince to print a
small (16,4 kB) one-page pdf. However, a few days ago, I could print
exactly this file without a problem.

I can confirm this. It used to be configurable in jaunty, but it isn't
anymore under karmic. This is quite annoying to me and I think it should
be changed back to the old behavior. This might be more of a wishlist-

The behavior has changed already under jaunty: now working on battery
power always allows for medium brightness, and only not touching the
keyboard for a while dims the screen completely. I guess that is the
desired behavior. I didn't notice this change since I haven't tried
working on battery

Unfortunately, I am not able to reproduce the issue. I forgot to mention
that when changing the resolution with the gnome tool, a projector was
connected to my vga-out. I cannot retry that at the moment, since I have
no projector available. My customized xorg.conf and the output of lspci

Yes, it is reproducible. Some further testing showed that gnome starts
to mix up the shortcut after log out - log in or after a reboot
Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to system - Preferences - Keyboard, change the behavior of the
capslock key there to swap capslock and esc

Actually, it is not always switching to the cyclic mode. This time,
the screen went black right after unplugging, and I could bring it with
the hotkeys to a level at which it was barely usable in a completely
dark room. However, it did not become brighter by itself this time, as
described above.

The bug gets ever more confusing: while logging this information, I had
the expected bahavior (for the first time ever, I think). The monitor
went a little darker after unplugging, and I could turn it up to maximum
brightness using the hotkeys. I'll rerecord that information trying to

The problems people are experiencing there started after an update to
hardy, while this bug here is a result from an upgrade to jaunty.
I can confirm this. Since update to jaunty, playback of flash videos is
a pain. Resetting the niceness of xorg to -10 improves the playback, but
it's still not good.

Same problem here: kile forgets when I set the shortcut alt+2 for the
latex compiler. This is very annoying, since I have automated this
command in my workflow. Other shortcuts like ctrl+m for the align-
environment are not affected.

Same grievance here. Whenever the pointer is accidentally over the

No, the issues seems to have been fixed. I haven't tried it again since
I filed the bug report, so I don't know exactly when the problem was
fixed, but I guess, this bug report can be closed. The procedure has
been to create a table and choose an arbitrary empty cell as the name
for the data set.
