Can anyone confirm that the Xorg process consumes 100% CPU after resume?
I see this happening consistently.
After resume (screen remains black) I logged in via SSH:

I fail to resume 100% of the time with kernel 2.6.32 with the same
symptoms as post #7.
Also, if a usb mouse is attached, the power never returns to the mouse,
so between no ssh and no usb power, I am pretty sure this is not a video
only issue. I booted a 2.6.31 kernel and suspend resume worked
I know that it's not very helpful, but resuming works on my machine
under Debian Lenny (kernel-release 2.6.26-2-686). Did somebody try
another kernel than 2.6.32*?

I have the same problem - or at least I did until I followed #38. I
usually have an sd card mounted so I simply unmounted it, put the laptop
into suspend, resumed with the power button and it came back. That's
the first time it's done for at least two upgrades, so thanks, Juerg.

Same problem as everyone else.
What I find strange is that suspend/resume appears to work the first time after
a reboot, but subsequent times it just comes out of Suspend and hangs on a
blank screen.
Occasionally it also freezes going into suspend.

Got the issues with suspend/hibernate on 2.6.32-22-generic. After I have
read the topic#40 I did try to do suspend/resume without SD-card and it
went successfully both! The SD card is a regular microSD with the
adapter, 2GB FAT drive with whole volume. So, looks like I need a new
sticker remove
Juerg, I have reverted from grub2 to grub and still have freezes and
failure to resume. It does not make the problem worse, but does not make
it any better.
In combination with fixing various .xsessions-errors (XID collision,
trouble ahead, Nautilus-Share-Message: Called net usershare info
and
I did not downgrade to grub.
I converted my second partition to ext4, but this did not solve the problem.

i have now upgraded back to grub2, and it work as with grub: i can
suspend if there is no SD-card mounted. so i guess there is no point in
downgrading to grub.
so am i the only one with just an SD-card problem? strange, it seems
to affect different systems differently...

My system behaves as Stuart's: one day resume from suspend works, one
day it doesn't. With ArchLinux, setting nomodeset as kernel parameter
resolved my issues but with Ubuntu I was not yet willing to change the
default installation settings.

Ok! nomodeset did not work. The desktop was uglier and slower and
resume resulted in a black screen. Apparently today is a resume-won't
-work-day.
