Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in
I have the same problem with an Ahtec Sense XHL 90 (it is new and the
battery has no problems). It loads fine but when the X should appear the
screen remains black, a LED starts to blink (the same which indicates
that caps lock is enabled, I don't know what it means if it blinks)

This problem disappeared after I wiped my disk and did a fresh OS
install (for unrelated reasons). Obviously, it had something to do with
bad configuration files. My previous install started as a clean install
of dapper in 2006 and had been upgraded to each subsequent release
through intrepid.

fact it hadn't. At least in my and max's case. Both I and max still have
an empty folder appearing while using 2.24.3-0ubuntu1 version of

I can confirm this bug on a Thinkpad T400 (fresh Intrepid system). The
symptoms are exactly as described above.
Enabling the proposed-updates repository did NOT fix the bug for me! The
symptoms stay the same. I can resume from suspend when I deactivate all but one
core before suspend, however
This has been reverted upstream, just to let you know. They realized it
was a little stupid since we don't get much advantages and break
compatibility. Expecting users to update their firmwares is not an
option, they won't understand the problem (sometimes it even requires

I first ran into this problem while trying to run ubuntu studio 8.10 on
top of ubuntu server 8.10. The server and studio upgrades install fine
but whenever I reboot or startx the system freezes(mouse stops

I mean since I am the OpenOffice.org maintainer for Ubuntu these are as
official as you are going to get for an older release, 3.0.1 isn't going
to be uploaded for older releases outside of possibly the backports
repository eventually. And since I can't test this issue, due to reasons

No, this fix is a dmidecode fix that matches on Dell strings. Something
different will be needed for that bug, probably similar to this:

I suspect that you did not install Ubuntu 8.10. I just did and the
problem you documented is not present. Recommend that you download a new
copy of Ubuntu 8.10 and reinstall it. Good luck!

I have never seen this bug before, but all of a sudden it has surfaced
consistently with Jaunty. The workaround of running
setxkbmap
in a terminal window does correct the lack of modifier keys.
VMware Workstation 6.5. Interestingly, I have never seen this with
Fedora 9, Fedora 10, Gutsy,
And it is very easy to revert packages you just need to do something
like the following in a terminal:
Remove the line for the repository of the newer debs from
/etc/apt/sources.lists
apt-get update - (this updates the Packages file which contains what packages
you can install)
apt-get clean
