The recently released kvm-1:28-4ubuntu2 fixes the problem for me,
the udev rule is in place, and /dev/kvm is root:kvm as expected.

Andreas, Anthony,
the special group kvm is already there in gutsy, that's not the topic of
the bug.
The problem is that the udev rule for assigning /dev/kvm to the group kvm is
not shipped.
It's in the source package in debian/kvm.udev, but misses in the binary package.
It should be shipped as
I can confirm this on current gutsy.
Chris, the reason is that /etc/udev/rules.d/50-kvm.rules is simply missing in
the kvm package,

As I wrote in my bug report, this bug is already fixed in Audacity
1.3.5. Intrepid is already using version 1.3.5 and Jaunty has version
1.3.7 so the problem is fixed for newer Ubuntu releases, though it may
still be a problem for users of 8.04 LTS.

Audacity doesn't save metadata correctly
I tested with glxgears on an Eee PC 901 with GMA 950, INTEL_BATCH was enabled
on both systems:
Gutsy Gibbon: 950 FPS
Intrepid Ibex: 500 FPS
I can confirm that the frame rate goes up in Intrepid Ibex (Gutsy Gibbon
untested) when glxgears is behind another window or minimized.

Poor graphics
It ist normal that glxgears displays the FPS every 5 seconds.
