as this bug seems to be the one where to gather resolution autodetection
problems, here I go.
Feisty failed to detect well the native resolution (1400x1050) of my
laptop screen. That is strange because xresprobe gave the right one. I
have no idea what went wrong.
It's an asus laptop based
as /dev/ is filled by udev. and as udev apparently fails to load a
module, I would bet it is a useful one to access your drives. Failing to
load it prevents the boot.

Yes. me too ! I thought it was only an impression but it may be real. I
think I lost one third of my laptop autonomy recently : 3 hours before,

Same wifi problem here with an asus V6V. But suspend/resume still works
fine. The two things must be unrelated.
Nonetheless I am now unable to switch the powerstate of my wifi card

I can confirm this on my kubuntu Gutsy, after doing a fresh install of
the beta version.
As far as I am conserned, this error is reported by
kio_media_mounthelper in a popup window when I try to mount it, either
by double click or via the right click :

I solved my problem : having installed ubuntu from an usb key, there was
a CD-ROM entry /dev/sdb1 in my fstab, which is the usual reference of
any external device I might plug.

Gutsy beta and automount sometimes fails depending on the device. This
is a huge regression as far as i'm concerned, as it worked flawlessly in
feisty.

something like that. The hdX have become sdx ; you must change your /etc/fstab

I have the exact same problem. I would also be glad to give any

to fix any problem you may encounter, change your /etc/fstab

by the way, my cdrom drive is now /dev/scd0.
A good solution
you should edit your grub line (hit the e key) to remove the quiet
and splash options to get more informations on what is going on.
