[Bug 185752] Re: dbus and f-spot not does not start f-spot
On Xubuntu Hardy, with dbus-x11 installed, and newest f-spot update, I still got the problem. However, after creating the dbus15 file as explained in Bismark's post (and restarting X and deleting photos.db as explained by bford16), f-spot launches properly. [Bug 141124] audio loop dv6000z
Public bug reported: I have tried this on two dv6000z laptops. When I load feisty the startup sound goes into a loop and locks everything up. I have tried going into a tty and doing a full upgrade and dist-upgrade on the laptop to see if this issue has been fixed and it has not. Edgy worked fine, as soon as alsa is stopped as I shut down the repeat stops. This does not lock up linux, but it does prevent X from going anywhere. I found the following note about my sound card. Even if this is true, I don't care if all the features are supported. I got sound in Edgy, and I want to run Feisty, and hopefully gutsy. The fact that feisty has been out this long and this bug hasn't been addressed is crazy to me. The sound card is a conexant (id 14f1:5045), based on the High Definition Audio (HDA) ship from intel and the driver that is recognized is the snd_hda_intel. However, this driver (even in version v1.0.12rc2, latest stable alsa version, with the kernel 2.6.15-27) cannot handle all the features of the card. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- audio loop dv6000z https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/141124 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 434269] Re: when I open my laptop lid, gsd changes my resolution
I also have this problem. In addition, I have a script that runs every few seconds using xrandr to check if my laptop is docked, and thus changes to the correct resolution for my external. When I'm not docked and I close my lid, xrandr ends up outputting the wrong resolution (ie, it thinks it's at 1400x1050, when it's obviously not). Question... Is there another way to get back to the desktop while using UNR Karmic? I don't care if it's before or after the session starts. I would like to be able to have the desktop either way. Also... What about just running regular Ubuntu? Does Ubuntu Karmic have all the optimizations for Intel Atom processors and the like? [Bug 416818] Re: Change the way Arora recommends installing extra multimedia packages
I also add that arora should allow to disable notification (if someone won't to install all that packages) I only now understand what mean: I just noticed this behavior and was going to post a bug It's awkward - to add feature that you cannot disable and it becomes annoying instead of helping and making user experience more pleasant. [Bug 416818] [NEW] Change the way Arora recommends installing extra multimedia packages
Public bug reported: I posted this on KDE brainstorm (http://forum.kde.org/brainstorm.php#idea74928) and Arora bug tracker (http://code.google.com/p/arora/issues/detail?id=596): After installing Kubuntu 9.10 and KDE 4.3 and running Arora, Arora recommends installing additional multimedia packages: http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/562/1arorarecommends.png Nice feature, but i would like to suggest to improve the way it does it. http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3374/2listpackages.png Here it would be nice to have additional information about packages to install. Now it just says For extra multimedia functionality select restricted packages to be installed. It should mention that Arora asks for this. http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/3669/3packageinstall.png As far as i understand here you cannot change much - this window is not manageable. But if it is possible - again indicate that the packages which are isntalling right now are restricted packages for Arora. http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/2097/4sucessfullyinstalled.png[/img And this window is really ugly. Again indicate what was successfully installed. After installing the packages and notifying about it there appears a notification in system tray recommending to restart Arora to get new functionality. I didn't manage to make screenshot - the notification closed too fast (it would be nice to track history of notifications and jobs). I think this notification should not appear if Arora is not running. And it should say what kind of new functionality (new media packages) it is talking about. But i would suggest to not make the notification.
