[Bug 251107] Re: [Intrepid] nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: AllocateScreenPrivateIndex

2008-11-03 Thread Victor
I have managed to solve the fonts problem (the OpenOffice interface - all the
fonts - was messed up with the Compiz enabled/96.43.09 nVidia driver) by
choosing Subpixel (LCDs) in the Smoothing section from System - Preferences
- Appearance - Fonts - Details... .
I hope this will help or will give some hints regarding the fonts issue.

RE: [Bug 74969] Re: Filters Activate Zoom.

2008-10-13 Thread Victor
At this time I am no longer running Xubuntu. I will say I ran into this
problem on all editions of ubuntu from this time period. When I
installed later versions of Ubuntu it was less common, but still
happened. Sadly, I do not know what the current state of this bug is.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Xubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Xubuntu release, Hardy Heron 8.04?
Thanks in advance.

[Bug 220706] Re: Boot fails on ata3: SRST failed (errno=-16)

2008-10-28 Thread Victor
I had the same problem on an asus p5w board and Ubuntu 8.04:

   ata4: SRST failed (errno=-16)

That occurred even when booting in live-cd mode. The problem dissapeared
when I changed sata mode setting on bios from enhanced ide to
ahci. May be developers can find a solution with this new information.

Please, excuse my English, and I hope this info could help someone.

[Bug 121487] Re: Gnome-PPP will not dock or minimize

2007-11-30 Thread Victor
Just after sending the comment I realized a lot of things are missing in
that script. It does dock, but then disconnect doesn't work. I think
this script fixes it:

#!/bin/bash
trap killall -s2 wvdial.bin 2

wait

[Bug 121487] Re: Gnome-PPP will not dock or minimize

2007-11-30 Thread Victor
I have the same problem. For those who don't want to recompile gnome-ppp
this will do the trick: rename wvdial to wvdial.bin and put the
following script in place of wvdial:

#!/bin/bash
wvdial.bin 21 | sed -u s/[^:]*:/--/ 12

At least it works for me.

[Bug 173384] Re: [wishlist] Could you please add custom scaling

2007-12-04 Thread Victor
I can try :)

Kpdf allows to enter new scale manually, it may be any number (like 114% or
297%)
Limiting user to only 10 scales is not very good idea (currently
50,70,85,100,125,150,175,200,300,400%)

[Bug 185752] Re: dbus and f-spot not does not start f-spot

2008-05-18 Thread Victor
On Xubuntu Hardy, with dbus-x11 installed, and newest f-spot update, I
still got the problem. However, after creating the dbus15 file as
explained in Bismark's post (and restarting X and deleting photos.db as
explained by bford16), f-spot launches properly. I suppose that this is
not really an f-spot bug but a dbus one.

After installing Gutsy on a PC with an Asus M2N-E SLI motherborad sound from

[Bug 141124] audio loop dv6000z

2007-09-19 Thread Victor
Public bug reported:

I have tried this on two dv6000z laptops. When I load feisty the
startup sound goes into a loop and locks everything up. I have tried
going into a tty and doing a full upgrade and dist-upgrade on the laptop
to see if this issue has been fixed and it has not. Edgy worked fine,
as soon as alsa is stopped as I shut down the repeat stops. This does
not lock up linux, but it does prevent X from going anywhere.

I found the following note about my sound card. Even if this is true, I
don't care if all the features are supported. I got sound in Edgy, and
I want to run Feisty, and hopefully gutsy. The fact that feisty has
been out this long and this bug hasn't been addressed is crazy to me.

The sound card is a conexant (id 14f1:5045), based on the High
Definition Audio (HDA) ship from intel and the driver that is recognized
is the snd_hda_intel. However, this driver (even in version v1.0.12rc2,
latest stable alsa version, with the kernel 2.6.15-27) cannot handle all
the features of the card.

[Bug 320845] [NEW] wxglade searchs help docs in the wrong directory

But there aren't any files in this url, because python-wxglade package installs

Option OpenGLOverlay off
Option XAANoOffscreenPixmaps on
Option TexturedXrender on

[Bug 501960] [NEW] Kernel panic with 2.6.31-17, possibly network related

2009-12-31 Thread Victor
Public bug reported:

I'm currently using the madwifi driver for my wireless network card, and
after upgrading from 2.6.31-15 to 2.6.31-17, I get frequent kernel
panics (blinking caps lock keys). It appears so far to happen at random,
and I have a feeling it has to do with the wireless drivers because I
have had countless number of problems with kernel panics and various
versions of kernels.

[Bug 434269] Re: when I open my laptop lid, gsd changes my resolution

2009-12-31 Thread Victor
I also have this problem. In addition, I have a script that runs every
few seconds using xrandr to check if my laptop is docked, and thus
changes to the correct resolution for my external. When I'm not docked
and I close my lid, xrandr ends up outputting the wrong resolution (ie,
it thinks it's at 1400x1050, when it's obviously not). I have to go into
nvidia-settings to change things back to normal.

[Bug 443298] Re: Dropping desktop-switcher from karmic

2009-10-30 Thread Victor
Question...

Is there another way to get back to the desktop while using UNR Karmic?
I don't care if it's before or after the session starts. I would like to
be able to have the desktop either way. Also... What about just running
regular Ubuntu? Does Ubuntu Karmic have all the optimizations for Intel
Atom processors and the like? I don't care much for the GUI, the only
reason I installed UNR is for all of it's supposed optimizations.

The UNR GUI is rather slow and cumbersome. I feel like it I do more
clicking around to get to where I want and to do what I want.

Thanks!

[Bug 461236] Re: Evolution RSS do not update RSS feed after 9.10 update

2009-10-26 Thread Victor
Stupid me for new feeds... the one I picked did not get updated since my
upgrade to 9.10.

The issue is then only for feeds set before the upgrade to 9.10, some of them
are:
- http://feeds.feedburner.com/nettuts
...

Those did not receive any update after my upgrade to 9.10 on Oct, 22.

any of the above feeds or with this one

[Bug 416818] Re: Change the way Arora recommends installing extra multimedia packages

2009-11-12 Thread Victor
I also add that arora should allow to disable notification (if someone won't
to install all that packages)
I only now understand what mean: I just noticed this behavior and was going to
post a bug

It's awkward - to add feature that you cannot disable and it becomes
annoying instead of helping and making user experience more pleasant.

[Bug 449855] Re: Internal microphone doesn't work on Asus eeePC 1005HA

2009-10-30 Thread Victor
@Daniel

I installed linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic and rebooted. Once I was
back up my wired network vanished. I ran lspci and it only showed the
wireless adapter. I didn't know how to get it working again, so I had to
reinstall Karmic.

I'm afraid of trying it again. I'm without wireless.

[Bug 449855] Re: Internal microphone doesn't work on Asus eeePC 1005HA

2009-11-02 Thread Victor
After re-installing Karmic I install the back-ports module. I can
confirm what Jero is experiencing, I too can record with gnome recorder
but in pulse no change. In skype it does not work cause i think it goes
through pulse.

Have the developers been working on this? It's been half a year since I
registered to this thread. Has there been any improvements? I'm still
getting so many lock ups.

[Bug 63778] Re: can't extract files with accents

2008-09-04 Thread victor
it looks like an unzip bug.

also when executed at command line just to list the content of a zip
file it doesn't show the name correctly:

$ unzip -l ébonita.zip
Archive: ébonita.zip
  Length Date TimeName

37035 06-20-08 20:25 Вbonita.jpg

The file was created at win vista with winzip and the correct content
would be 'ébonita.jpg' instead of 'Bbonita.jpg'.

[Bug 74969] Filters Activate Zoom.

2006-12-08 Thread Victor
Public bug reported:

Every time I use a filter the entire audio file zooms to whatever
magnification would perfectly fit the entire audio file visually into
the window. This is infuriating and makes the program impossible to use
for editing. I am using the standard repository 1.2.4b-2.1ubuntu1 on
Xubuntu Edgy Eft.

[Bug 416818] [NEW] Change the way Arora recommends installing extra multimedia packages

2009-08-21 Thread Victor
Public bug reported:

I posted this on KDE brainstorm
(http://forum.kde.org/brainstorm.php#idea74928) and Arora bug tracker
(http://code.google.com/p/arora/issues/detail?id=596):

After installing Kubuntu 9.10 and KDE 4.3 and running Arora, Arora
recommends installing additional multimedia packages:
http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/562/1arorarecommends.png
Nice feature, but i would like to suggest to improve the way it does it.

http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3374/2listpackages.png
Here it would be nice to have additional information about packages to
install. Now it just says For extra multimedia functionality select
restricted packages to be installed. It should mention that Arora asks for
this.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/3669/3packageinstall.png
As far as i understand here you cannot change much - this window is not
manageable. But if it is possible - again indicate that the packages which
are isntalling right now are restricted packages for Arora.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/2097/4sucessfullyinstalled.png[/img
And this window is really ugly. Again indicate what was successfully
installed.

After installing the packages and notifying about it there appears a
notification in system tray recommending to restart Arora to get new
functionality. I didn't manage to make screenshot - the notification closed
too fast (it would be nice to track history of notifications and jobs).
I think this notification should not appear if Arora is not running. And it
should say what kind of new functionality (new media packages) it is
talking about. But i would suggest to not make the notification. Rather put
this information in the window which notifies you about finishing
installing the packages:
