[Bug 1629770] Re: No "UI scaling" checkbox in display properties, no actual scaling in unity, nautilus, gnome apps
Just found a better set of settings: - `gsettings set com.ubuntu.user-interface scale-factor "{'HDMI1': 8, 'eDP1': 8m 'eDP-1': 12}"` - `gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface text-scaling-factor 1.0` - `gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-size 36` - setting `layout.css.devPixelsPerPx` in Firefox about:config to 2.0 This fixes things visually, but the checkbox is still missing. [Bug 1629770] [NEW] No "UI scaling" checkbox in display properties, no actual scaling in unity, nautilus, gnome apps
Public bug reported: After upgrading from 16.04 to 16.10-something-after-final-beta the UI scaling of desktop has gone and the relevant UI control is not found in the Displays panel of System Settings. I could work around some of the problems by: - `gsettings set com.ubuntu.user-interface scale-factor "{'HDMI1': 8, 'eDP1': 12}"` - `gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface text-scaling-factor 1.5` - `gsettings org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-size 36` - setting `layout.css.devPixelsPerPx` in Firefox about:config to 2.0 (note it's not consistent with 1.5 I use for everything else, it happened to Firefox one or two versions back, and it's a separate issue) These didn't fix the size of Unity panels and font sizes in window titles. [Bug 1054394] [NEW] Shotwell never finishes writing metadata
Public bug reported: After upgrading from 0.12.9 to 0.13 shotwell starts rewriting metadata on every launch, going through the progress with the ever-slowing pace (i.e., each next % passes longer than the previous one). [Bug 879579] Re: Full screen mode of Firefox makes unity panel and dash inaccessible
Fullscreen means different things for different applications, and I'm specifically concerned with Firefox. Or, if you want me to generalize, with any application for which it makes sense to be a part of some larger user workflow: office apps, photo editing apps etc. But certainly not games which are indeed a perfect example of a single-task immersive activity. Full screen mode doesn't define a use case by itself, it's an implementation detail and it should be changed to correspond to behavior patterns, not used as a base for them. [Bug 876070] Re: Backup cannot be restored on a fresh install
Oh, I think I have an idea why it's not working here. The fact that deja-dup prompts me for administrative permission shows that it tries to run `as_root` (if I read the source correctly). But the root user on a clean machine doesn't have SSH trust to connect to any host causing duplicity to break on login. I'd say there are two separate issues here: - deja-dup shouldn't try to run as root in my case since backup was run under local user and includes only its home dir - there should be a UI for confirming connection to unknown hosts -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876070 Title: Backup cannot be restored on a fresh install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/deja-dup/+bug/876070/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 876070] [NEW] Backup cannot be restored on a fresh install
Public bug reported: 0. Decided to reinstall Ubuntu 11.10 from scratch 1. Created a fresh backup of my /home/username on an SSH server with deja-dup 2. Reinstalled Ubuntu 3. Ran a restore process from deja-dup (a very slick UI, thank you!) 4. Entered SSH credentials, checked save password box 5. deja-dup successfully connected to server and listed available backup 6. Selected restore to original location 7. After severla seconds of Preparing... deja-dup asked me for a password to elevate privileges (why? I'm only restoring my own home dir) 8. The UI wizard immediately turned to a terminal page reporting an error: Connection failed, please check your password: Login dialog cancelled. When running `deja-dup --restore` from terminal duplicity also reports exit code 38. Note: same thing happens when pointing explicitly to a home directory instead of original location at step 6. Expected result is obviously a flawless restoration of my original home dir in place. One more thing.
