LCD panel, the refresh rate is fine, but if I rotate it with xrandr to

Agreed. Using the "lfs" option, it worked. So the case should be closed.
The only thing remaining to do is perhaps the fact that the "lfs" option
does not seem to be that well documented. Once you know the option, yes
it is easy (google) but it is not so when you don't know the name of the
option.
The "samba/cifs" protocol has a part that is dedicated to negociate if
large files are supported or not. The only thing is that the samba mount
command will report itself has "not supporting large files" unless the
"lfs" flag is used.

NAS drive using nautilus works fine (I suspect nautilus use the
smbclient command) and that getting this same large file through the
samba mount works!!

I am having the same problem on Karmic (Mythbuntu 9.10 more exactly).
The version numbers are slightly different but the issue is the same
(the SMBFS package wants a Samba common 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5 whilst a
2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.1 is installed.
I only use the standard main, universe and multiverse.

samba and smbfs depend on an old version of samb
I was able to fix my problem by forcing samba and samba-common back to 5
(instead of 5.1). I was then able to install smbfs and it is currently
working fine.
Still, I suspect there must be a problem somewhere in the Ubuntu
repository as, ideally, it would be preferable if simple users like me

Honestly, the non patched version crashed all the same, but at least it does it
transparently for the user (for me at least).
Now, I may have missed something, but I don't think so.

A similar problem : after upgrading from Breezy to Dapper, Gnucash can't
reconcile my accounts (replace the amount by 0,00), for all accounts,
even those lesser 1000. Furthurmore, the date in reconciliation window
is 2012 !

connecting to the internal bluetooth of an EliteBook 8560W running
Ubuntu 16.04.
