Hi Alex,
normally, you can see your release when you execute "lsb_release -a" in
the terminal. However, I can't tell you right now if that will show beta
versions as well. By the way the question is asked, I would tell you
that as soon as you download all updates for your system, you will have

Hi Brian,
my spontaneous guess would be that you haven't installed libdvdread yet,
try executing the following in a terminal:
sudo apt-get install libdvdread4
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
Also, restart VLC after that and tell me if it worked?

Hi Devon,
I wasn't able to reproduce the problem you described, but the crash
behaviour sounds similar to what I experienced in the past when renaming
files in Thunar (the default file browser). It would occasionally just

Hi everyone,
I also have a question regarding Jack in Ubuntu Studio.
I have not yet been able to autostart Jack with my settings upon logon.
I can get my external audio interface working by opening QjackCtl and
manually starting the sound server, but I would like to bypass this
step. Of course, I

Hi Ralf, thanks for your quick reply! I just got around to trying this.
According to the console output, I was able to get the Jack server

have you also registered the libraries according to this page?

Hi,
you may also use "Alacarte" (sudo apt install alacarte) for editing the

It's relatively similar to the Libre* program, but won't mess up the

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to quickly ask how you solve setting up a systemwide EQ in JACK
for audio monitoring?
There's of course the possibility of running Calf and routing the system output
through it, but then the Calf window needs to be open constantly. Pulseaudio

Hi Ralf,
thank you for your reply. Using Ubuntu Studio 16.04 currently, but I am
planning to do a full re-install & system upgrade to 17.10 around Christmas/New

I don't use jackdbus, currently. I can get JACK and either Calf and/or JackRack
Hi Mauro,

No, thanks for the suggestion, but I don't see an option to set an EQ in there,
am I missing something?--

Hi Ralf,
I can't help with this, as I have an AMD system, but I've read that performance
can be reduced by up to 50% when using certain SSDs somewhere (in Windows, I
think).
However, this site doesn't list your Celeron G as vulnerable:

I'm not entirely sure what your exact problem is, but I've had some bug with

No.
QjackCtl is still in active development. You can just download and run the
latest AppImage from here:
