Thanks for the answer, but I don't understand it; what is a search path?
I'm guessing I drop it in a folder in one of the Helper folders?:
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/armhf-linux
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/arm-linux
/usr/local/sbin
/usr/local/bin
/sbin
I have just done a fresh installation and found I needed the -apt-get
update- & -apt-get -f install-. My settings tell me I have no LAME
installed - is this part of the same dependency issue?
I can't establish where to put LAME - any steers?

I know nothing about Linux. Can you please tell me how to do what
richardsk suggests?

I don't know what ssh is. I log-on to the server using PuTTY. If I
enter df -h I get:
FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/vg_hamgat-lv_root
5.0G 5.0G 0 100% /
tmpfs 499M 0 499M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sdb1 485M 68M 392M 15%
The system has worked fine for the past four years so I doubt that there
is an issue with the size of the card. I presume I have things on the
card which is irrelevant, e.g. old yum/rpm stuff and logs.
Is someone able to tell me the commands to clear out the logs and
anything else that I don't
I have been unable to get LMS to start. I am not qualified enough even
to call myself a Linux novice. Any tips welcomed.
The system is a mini-ITX running ClearOS 6.4.0 on an 8Gb Compact Flash.
The storage is a 1Tb HDD.
In PuTTY I get:
# service squeezeboxserver start
Starting Squeezebox
Thanks for the answer. I know nothing of Linux so I don't know how to
get rid of stuff, or how to decide what should be got rid of. From my
perspective, as a start, I could ditch all logs as I wouldn't know what
to do with a log. But how...?
How do I decide what to delete and how do I do it?
as always.

Thanks again for the help, I finally feel that I am making progress

HDD is attached, -in spite of checking that the BIOS is set to every
time-.
Any steers, please?

Interesting, thanks.
You say you did no preparation of the CF beforehand. Does this mean
you didn't even format it?
What size is the CF you use? Mine is 2Gb. The ClearOS ISO is just
over 700Mb.
Thanks.
