Please don't make false accusations like this. TDF actively seeks and
challenges the scammers who try to rob people wanting to download
LibreOffice, but there are still plenty trying the scam and I was able to
easily find them in a Google search just now (although mercifully the first

Hi Jason,
Do your spreadsheets work in LibreOffice (or another ODS-compatible tool
like Microsoft Office)? If they are corrupted that would display a message
or crash as well I expect.

I am a ChromeBook user and have found it easy to install the LibreOffice
suite (which is based on OpenOffice.org) into the Linux system. I use it
all the time and find it works well for me, including integration into the
Launcher. To install it do this:
1. Activate the Linux subsystem on your

Since AOO downloads are not managed by Apache but by SourceForge, is it

Hi Cathy,
Just as a friendly note to try to help you understand what's going on here.
Apache OpenOffice is not made by any company -- Apache is a non-profit
community of individual software developers, each giving you free use of
their work. As a consequence there's no company for you to be
I believe LibreOffice has support for importing LWP files.

Hi Jim,
OpenOffice can't open Publisher files, but a group of open source
developers at the Document Liberation Project
http://www.documentliberation.org/ developed a library a while back
(libmspub) that allows any open source program that wants it access to the
MS Publisher file format. That
Hi Cheryl,
The Apache OpenOffice project does not distribute version 3.2 (it is an
earlier version that was distributed -- long ago -- by Sun Microsystems),
so you cannot possibly have downloaded it from Apache or from any of
Apache's official mirrors of OpenOffice at SourceForge.
Firestarter is
not to use them except when there is no better choice. /

I've not used it myself, but apparently LibreOffice has had the ability to
import MS Publisher files for some time:
