If you are using Courier-IMAP, there is one configure option
--with-trashquota

I don't know about any other solutions.

[vchkpw] Problems with POP3 + valias

2003-11-11 Thread DHT Hosting - Morten Skou
Hey All,

After setting up vpopmail with mysql for valias / pop etc, I am
Expirencing problems when the same [EMAIL PROTECTED] has both a POP3 box
and a valias which forwards the incomming mails to another email.

Simply what happens is when a mail goes into the system, it looks like
it
Just sees the valias, so the incomming email gets forwarded to the other
email in the valias, but dosent get stored locally in the postbox.

To be a little more specific about the entries in the mysql database,
What I have is :

Valias table :
++--+---+
| alias | domain | valias_line |
++--+---+
| postmaster | domain1.dk | [EMAIL PROTECTED] |
++--+---+

And then I have [EMAIL PROTECTED] which points to a pop3 acocunt
from the vpopmail table.

If I remove the valias entry, the mail gets delivered as normally
to the postbox. And I get no errors in either messages or maillog about
the error when having both alias and pop.

I hope someone will be able to help me with my problem.

Best regards
Morten Skou

I havn't tried this, so it's just an idea:

it should be possible to write more than one valias_lines for an alias,
right?
if so, just write a second valias_line, which points to the local mailbox of
postmaster. [I don't know, the exact syntax.something like
" /home/path/to/postmasters/./Maildir/ " or "
/home/path/to/postmasters/./Mailbox "]

let me know if it works.

Great, it worked.. now I just wonder why that idea never hit me.

I just added a 2nd alias line with :
/usr/local/vpopmail/domains/domain.com/postmaster/Maildir/

Now I just need to try and find a workaround for the catch-all
Accounts, since it aparently aint possible to put .qmail-default
Into the mysql database.

But thanks a lot Anne.

It must be possible to put .qmail-default into the mysql...somehow.
maybe like this :

++--+---
---+
| alias | domain | valias_line
  |
++--+---
---+
| default| domain1.dk | | /usr/local/vpopmail/bin/delivermail ''
bounce-no-mailbox|
++--+---
---+

or wherever your delivermail code is. For the params read the man page of
delivermail:

good luck,

Perhaps the socket its trying is wrong?

If you try

# mysql -p
# password
mysql> \s

it should confirm where your mysql is listening.. its sometimes
/tmp/mysql.sock

You should not use vpopmail-5.2.1, it contains some nasty bugs that can
cause unreliable operation of courier-imap (especially if you compiled
courier with --with-authdaemon)
You could either go for vpopmail-5.2.2, or vpopmail-5.3.28

Once you have upgraded your vpopmail, you will also need to go and rebuild
your other add-on apps like qmailadmin and courier-imap, so that they can
link against the updated vpopmail code.

Hello all,

I get this error each time I run /usr/local/vpopmail/bin/clearopensmtp:

tcpserver: fatal: unable to figure out port number for

I have done the following:

1) read all postings that looked similar (on this list and the qmail
list)
2) gone through Life with Qmail
3) gone through vpopmail Adminstration Guide
4) recompiled vpopmail
5) recompiled the tcp.smtp.cdb file
6) restarted all services

and still no change, I must be doing something wrong or I am changing
the wrong files :S

This is on FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE using
qmail-1.03_1

Is it a permissions thing?

repeat the two command for all software you need

Generally when using roaming-users, you need to put all the tcp.smtp.* files
in ~vpopmail/etc rather than /etc

This is because the vpopmail user needs write permission on the tcp.smtp.cdb
and tcp.smtp.tmp files and typically the /etc dir wont allow that.

Just linking the files to the vpopmail/etc dir isnt sufficient, as vpopmail
needs to create temp files etc, and in your case these will be created in
/etc which I guess will fail.

RE: [vchkpw] Interesting clearopensmtp and tcpserver issue

2003-11-11 Thread Jason Lavigne
WOOHOO found the issue.

On FreeBSD if you are going to do a custom compile, make sure you add
'--prefix=/usr/local i386-portbld-freebsd5.1' to your ./configure
command. (this is not documented and I only knew by looking at the ports
version closely)

Using the following command worked!

./configure --enable-valias=y --enable-mysql-logging=y
--enable-auth-logging=y --enable-default-domain=bwlogic.com
--enable-domain-quotas=y --enable-mysql=y --enable-many-domains=y
--enable-vpopgroup=vchkpw
--enable-log-name=vpopmail--enable-domains-dir=domains
[EMAIL PROTECTED] --enable-qmaildir=/var/qmail
--enable-tcprules-prog=/usr/local/bin/tcprules
--enable-tcpserver-file=/usr/local/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp
--enable-defaultquota=52428800 --enable-logging=p
--enable-roaming-users=y --enable-relay-clear-minutes=30
--enable-clear-passwd=y --prefix=/usr/local i386-portbld-freebsd5.1

As you can see I am using MySQL and the default ports distribution uses
cdb, this is why doing a build straight from the ports tree fixed my
clearopensmtp error message, however I lost all my user accounts as
these are in MySQL. Using the ports version with the above configure
command fixed all my issues.

Thanks all for your input, it help a ton :D

[vchkpw] enable-auth-logging purpose?

2003-11-11 Thread Tom Walsh
I am trying to get a clearer picture of what --enable-auth-logging does.

The configure --help tells me that:

"--enable-auth-logging=y|n Turn on (y) or off (n, default) logging
authentication attempts, only valid for mysql and oracle"

but then how does that relate to:

"--enable-mysql-logging=y|n Turn on (y) or off (n, default) logging
detailed authentication attempts, only valid for mysql"

Does that mean that auth-logging is also responsible for information that
ends up in the syslog?

Also the screen after my configure (the configure summary screen?) conflicts
with the configure --help. My summary screen says:

"auth logging = ON --enable-auth-logging=y (default)"

which is obviously contradictory to the line at the beginning of my message
about what the --help contains.

The vpopmail version I am running 5.3.20. I know that it is out of date, but
it is installed in a production server cluster so I am not willing to play
"Russian roulette" with a new version.

TIA,

 --enable-auth-logging=y
Maintain a lastauth table in MySQL (shows when / how a user last accessed
their email)

--enable-mysql-logging=y
Maintain the vlog table in MySQL (shows failed authentication requests)
The level of detail in the vlog table is controlled by the --enable-logging
setting

[vchkpw] Re: [qmailadmin] Delete Mail-- Serious Issue!

2003-11-11 Thread Mike Miller
However, /bin/sh exists.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] /]# su vpopmail
[EMAIL PROTECTED] /]$ w

[EMAIL PROTECTED] /]$ /bin/sh
[EMAIL PROTECTED] /]$ exit
[EMAIL PROTECTED] /]$ exit
seems to work if you ask me.

As well, another oddity. This is all just on the one delete and didn't do
it before I added it. Seems to be recursively respawning vdelivermail.
Seems odd. Again- the .qmail is this:
