Fishing has slowed here in Wisconsin.too. Season is closed until January.
Feels like January already. Yesterday's low was 6 degrees F.

I used to tie with Gudebrod partly because their thread was very good. And
partly because they had partnered with Gary Borger and numbered their
threads according to his color system. I have
his booklet with all the colors in it. Makes it easy to match an insect's
color with his system. I
Hi all:
It has been a while and I periodically say hi to members here.
Since moving to Israel a year and a half ago I have fished very little as
fishing here is nothing to be proud of. I had a bit of a fish in france a
couple of months ago but apart from a bit of a fish with my son in the park
Yes, I’m sure it is Tony, but the ability to build a one-weight rod is
something to be proud of. I only wish I could! Take care & best wishes

Nev, still not finished with the 1 wt, it is ready to wrap. It has taken me
nine months to get this far with it.I wish I could get down in the shop more
often. This problem with my right foot is now keeping me from getting things
done. A nurse comes every day to treat my foot and I go to the
But Tony - you are still building a one-weight cane rod are you not, or is it
finished?

I have a couple dozen spools of the Gudebrod wrapping thread. I know I have, I
guess it would be Garnet and probably the Candy Apple red. It's a bright red.
Not much left on the spool though. Going back to the Chili Pepper, I've had
better luck with it for warm water species. I've caught
Hi Tony:
The original number is 326 scarlet. The two spools that I purchased on eBay are
marked #396 and I don’t think that is a Gudebrod number. The red does not quite
match and I suspect the seller has respooled from a bulk spool of another
brand. I still have an old Gudebrod colour chart
Nev,Do you have a number for that thread. I might have it in my Gudebrod stash
of wrapping thread.I will have to wait till I can get a friend to come by to
check for me, not able to go down stairs yet

Hi Chuck
I needed a specific brand, size and colour as I had already used up the first
100yd spool and needed another to finish the rod. Since I started with a
certain red numbered colour by Gudebrod, I had to get some of the same size,
brand and colour. Gudebrod closed down around 8 years or
Neville: Your welcome. No, I don’t have any rod wrapping thread but surely

Hi Tony,
good point. However, I still have a box full of Chili Peppers, and I had

Hi Chuck:
Thanks for the offer, but it is the rod wrapping thread in size A that I wanted
and I have now got it albeit at a steep price. I did buy a fairly large amount
of Gudebrod fly tying thread on ebay after they went out of business in
primarily 8/0 and 10/0 with some 6/0 and 3/0 in
Yes I do. Thanks Nev .

Hi Nev,
so true, the list has slowed down a lot.
However, it is also our responsibility to revive it a bit.
My fishing was slow this year for known reasons. One of my grandkids
took me out for fishing. Well, this 4 year old asked my a couple of
time, if we shouldn't go out and catch some
