I used to tie with Gudebrod partly because their thread was very good. And partly because they had partnered with Gary Borger and numbered their threads according to his color system. I have his booklet with all the colors in it. Makes it easy to match an insect's color with his system. I

Hi Tony: The original number is 326 scarlet. The two spools that I purchased on eBay are marked #396 and I don’t think that is a Gudebrod number. The red does not quite match and I suspect the seller has respooled from a bulk spool of another brand. I still have an old Gudebrod colour chart
