I haven't dyed much because most of the colors I use are readily available most of my tying is for personal use the occasional swap. For grizzly I've used RIT that my girlfriend used for basket weaving reed w/ the addition of vinegar in a couple of cases I used the markers I have for thread.

Mike: That would be great since that book runs from $30-80+ LOL..I just want to know how he recommends to dye hackle feathers with?? I have been reading online and it says Rit or other “acid dyes”, Kool aid (LOTS of sites do that, but I need jet black and I don’t think Kool Aid makes that),

May I suggest, before you have done the dyeing, etc. that you may want to just keep the grizzly hackle without dyeing it and go to Lakelandflytying.com in the UK and just buy one of their Whiting saddles or necks in the color you want. They have the best dyed feathers I have ever had the chance
