Today was a great follow-up to videobloggingweek...
Jay, Ryanne, JD, Josh Paul, Chris Ritke and I spent the day at UC Santa
Barbara, vlogging the 2006 Santa Barbara Forum on Digital Transitions:
Social Collaboration and Dynamic Communities, the first in a series of
annual meetings
We've had lots of discussion in here about what video format is best
to use for videoblogging.
Do we have any real statistics about what people actually ARE using?
Anyone know of a reliable way to figure this out?

In general, I'd have to say it's overwhelmingly Quicktime mpeg4 of some kind. I have 78 feeds in FireAnt and 74 of them are QuickTime. It used to be 73 and then Carl Weaver started using QuickTime. I didn't specifically look for QuickTime only - though if people provide a choice (like 3D Roger)

Alot of folks have been complaining
about the sound on my vlogs. I've done all sorts of things to improve it, but to
no avail.
Jay Madore suggested a shotgun
microphone. A few questions about that:
My camera is a a Panasonic PVGS39. You
have to plug the microphone in the front
From the nature of your videos I've seen, I think you would do well
with a lavalier microphone. You can probably get one from any one of
the big box computer stores or Radio Shack for around $30 or $40.

From seeing how you do your videos I would think that a livelier mic
would be better for you. A good lav will cost some bucks and
unfortunately the good ones require a kind of mic jack that your
camera doesn't have. But you might be able to find a decent one with
a mini jack that doesn't cost
