I have to assume most Americans are as disgusted by this thread as I am.
Having seen and heard and been influenced by European ideas of speech
laws, it fucking sickens me to see discussion of banning or censoring
certain points of view.
I don't give a fuck if John McCain says that liberal
Just to be clear: I don't necessarily endorse EU-style hate speech laws.
However, I do endorse discussing them.

I would let everyone know and give the blip gang something to work on.

I agree with you Michael, it's a total shame McCain and his terrible
ads are on a service we love. BOO. I was upset when I saw the
blip.tv player on McCain' website. :(
Yet I totally disagree with your call to ask or expect blip.tv to
take the videos down. That would be a kind of

you want to take away his shovels? how shortsighted.

This is a little academic, but it has a nice premise:

When I noticed this a few months ago, I thought to myself, how awesome
that Blip is in control of McCain's message - perhaps we could get
Mike and Dina drunk one night at the office and pull an October
surprise: Oops! Delete. (hickup).
But seriously, if it's legal, it should of be allowed.
Bre Pettis used to use a videoblog for his elementary school; some of the

Clarified. Thanks. I know you're a proponent of free speech. Hope this 3am
rant didn't seem to be coming down on you in particular. Just got home from
a bar where I was talking with some friends about our constitution and how
it's been pillaged over the past 50 years, read this thread, and got
Now wait a fucking sec Quirk! What the fuck are u talking about? I never

favorite hosting
service, run by a fantastic man like Mike, is helping the McCain gang to spread
there filth.
That's my opinion.
Markus,
Nice! I am in the middle of deep discussions with people in my area about
schooling and will share this link.
We are researching how to start a charter school, co-op school, home
schooling, co-schooling, partial schooling and unschooling ;)

Howard Rheingold posted this short video basically about videoblogging:

he was asking about this new world of online video.

I've been loving his videos of late. For such an in-tune guy, videoblogging
(and the various uses of video online in general) is a new concept for
him... like when he mentions how now there are communities coming around

Vimeo is having issues with it as well. For them it's the uploader.
People are forced to use the simple version.

I'm so glad that people finally spoke up about the whole free speech thing!
I was catching up on my emails this morning, and was a little shocked by
peoples' condemnation of blip.
Glad everyone's settled back into a big hug sort of thing.
One thing I learned from hanging out with the EFF:
Earlier this year, everyone assumed FCC Chairman Kevin Martin was
another Bush appointee douchebag.
You just expected him to be corrupt, uninformed, and incompetent.
Then Comcast got caught filtering and controlling people's internet traffic.
Time for the test.

Must. Not. Censor. Let blip gain market share and follow clever Jay - this
stuff can be used to promote whatever agenda you believe in.
I support anyone's right to use blip's service and do not see that as an
indictment of blip whatsoever.
