Ours are cataloged using LOC and then by title, but we get complaints that they
are not set up by genre.
PN 1992.77 - TV series
PN1997 - older classic movies
PN 1997.2 - new movies
PN 1997.5

: [Videolib] media cataloging question

(mostly) PN 1995.9, then organized by genre. They claim they could
catalog more quickly if they began using some other PN number, then
organizing them by director or by title.
Is this true
We use the 1995.9 also and it does present a problem in that so many titles
have very similar call numbers, making shelving a challenge. However, they
are grouped somewhat sensibly. Musicals are together, foreign films,
comedies. What other PN number would they use?
PN1997 and PN1997.2,
Maureen! Alas, here at USC we use just a very simple sequential
numbering system for our dvds. The last
dvd added to our collection has been assigned the call number LVYDVD
4779, the next one added will
be LVYDVD 4780, and so on and so forth. All rather mindless and
annoying. :o

Our feature films are classed using LC's literature schedule, using
country-of-origin-of-director as the author.
For the most part results in organization by language. (A few oddities:
Brokeback Mountain is in with the Asian films because directed by Ang Lee).
Directors are alphabetized within

Is this true? I am not a cataloger. Obviously.
