I have just found a solution to something that had long puzzled me : if you
have turned on Find My Phone, then if your phone software gets messed up or you
get a new phone after losing your old one, you will not be able to restore from
the backup on your iTunes because a pop up will tell you
How do you do this or find out if enabled or not?
Thanks.

If Find My Phone is on and you also have a decent passcode on your phone, then
you don't need to worry about any thief getting at what is on your phone. It
is, nevertheless, useful to know how to disable this feature if you do want to
use Restore from Backup using iTunes - see http

Yet again an iOS device has frozen on me - my iPad this time. I tried plugging
it into my pc to restore the iPad via iTunes but discovered that iTunes would
not allow this because Find My Phone was turned on. I solved the problem by
remembering how to do a hard reset. But this incident made me
that way.

Thanks, Jonathan! I did try warm reset
to do a restore
from latest backup but I got a message saying I had to turn off Find my phone
on the iCloud settings of the iPhone before it would allow me to restore from
backup. Fortunately the touchscreen started cooperating again at this point so
I was able to get into the phone settings
not even
register the numbers for the pass code despite switching the phone off and on

Hello,
The app find My Phone does need to be downloaded onto the phone. I am not
sure of all of the procedures, but it was very simple to set up. Also, there is
another app call find My Friends. It was recommended to install this app and
to have all phones in the family, plus friends invited
Good point, but it's convincing your friends that you aren't going to use
find my friends to stalk them, lol.

Subject: Find My Phone app: A Must Have
Okay! This has not been stated in any of the threads and I just wanted to be
clear about it. The Find My Phone app needs to be installed on another device.
Is that correct if one wants to find their own phone or someone elses? Just
wanting this clarified to know on how to proceed.
Thanks
