Hi, I've experienced this issue.
To fix it, open the Podcasts app & leave it running in the background at all
times.
This will not significantly drain your battery.
Most podcast apps work like this nowadays.

screen. However, if you tap the name of the podcast in the mini-player, then
the full screen player will open and it does contain a slider
forward and rewind buttons, speed control, etc.

a lot of the ibooks store interface in some ways, at least. Once you're into
the catalog, this becomes apparent. If you go into the top stations tab instead

Yes, I find the fact that you can speed up podcasts up to be redundant,
since they're spoken word content, which in my view speeding that up hinders
consumption of the information.

I agree with your comments below. Additionally, I also use the Downcast
app to listen to audio books in addition to podcasts. However just
because I may not like a new app or a new app doesn't have a feature I
want or like, I won't call it stupid, or anything like that.
