Selecting text when not in an edit field is hit and miss. You may have to use the three-finger-quadruple-tap Voiceover method to copy the last spoken chunk of text to the clipboard. Another thing I do occasionally is select all the text, then copy and paste it and edit out the extraneous stuff.
