Speaking of speak screen, does the MacOS have anything quite like that? I know
there is speak items in the edit menu. Just thought it would be cool to have a
gesture, but Academic here, as macOS is OT if anyone has the where with allto

speak screen. To make it go away, the easiest thing to do is to activate speak
screen on some text, then stop speak screen before it stops
I occasionally land on something called the speaking bar when I’m flicking
around the screen. It will toggle from “minimize speaking bar “to “Maximus
speaking bar“. Can anyone tell me what this is?

I never said anything about a vertical bar so I'm not sure what you are talking

The first two things in the Spoken Content settings read as follows:

If your settings are such that the speaking bar appears which seems obvious,
you need to understand what gesture invokes the speaking bar and how to close
it. With focus on any item in the topline status bar, a two finger swipe down
will start the speaking bar. When it starts, it appears
The speak screen setting should also be off. Sadly Other than those two
settings, I haven't heard of anything else causing the speaking bar to
appear. I hope others have perhaps found out how to deal with this oddly
appearing speaking bar. If you celebrate it, have a happy Thanksgiving day.
