App for streaming MLB games?

2012-08-11 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi All,

I'm looking for an app that will allow me to stream MLB games in real
time, like when I am at the ballpark. I'm sure there are apps to do
this, but which is the most accessible?

Thanks in advance,
Kimber

Re: Fleksy

2012-08-11 Thread Chris (gmail)
Just swipe and hold to the left and everything will be deleted at once.
Or use the copy and clear menu option by pressing and holding above the
keyboard to bring up the menu, then double tap on copy and clear.

Hi Reggie,

You delete by swiping left. If you are typing the slow way, i.e. by
touching and holding the screen until you hear the letter spoken,
swiping left will erase each letter you typed this way one at a
time. If you are typing the fast way by touching approximately where
you think the letter should be and by doing the pattern, then a
swipe left will undo what you typed since the last word, e.g. if you
want to type “Hello Peter” and you typed Hello correctly and it read
it back and then you realize you started out wrong for “peter”, you
swipe left once and there is a little swish sound which means you
can start over. If you typed Peter and it doesn’t come up and is not
in the list of suggestions, just do a swipe left after you reach the
end of the suggestions and, if for example the last word in the
suggestions was “other” Fleksy would make the swish sound and say
“deleted other”. Now you can give it another try.

As for capitalization, you have to find the letter you want to
capitalize the “slow way”, then once Voiceover announces the letter
lift your finger and do a 1-finger swipe up from the bottom towards
the top, sometimes and I think it’s mostly if you have typed nothing
else yet, Voiceover just repeats the letter and you have to swipe up
a second time before it will capitalize it. You said in your message
“I have tried moving my finger up on the screen” so I believe you
may slide your finger up after you find the letter without lifting
it first, you have to do a definite swipe or flick up not a slow slide.

I just tried this by typing “iPhone” the slow way, I find the “I”
then lift my finger, then I find the “p”, lift my finger and then a
single swipe up will say “capital p”. If, however, I type the word
“Phone” as my first word and do it the slow way, I have to swipe up
twice after I find the “p” because the first time I swipe up it just
says “p” and the second time it says “capital p”.

If you hear what you just typed, i.e. if the text is read back to
you, you are touching too high because this reading back of what you
typed is triggered by covering up the proximity sensor and it is
right at the very top and just to the left of the slot in the glass
where your earpiece Is. If you do want Fleksy to read back what you
typed you can either raise the phone to your ear or you can just
hover your hand or palm over the top of the phone, you don’t have to
actually touch the screen to trigger this.

As for activating the menu once you are done typing, try and touch
the screen at the level of where the volume up and down buttons are.
In fact, you could put a finger over top of them so you feel both
the volume up and down, then lift that finger move right just a bit
(you don’t have to be in the middle of the screen) and plop it down
on the screen just to the right of where the volume buttons are,
hold for half a second or so and you should hear the dong followed
immediately by Voiceover saying “Alert” followed by the text you
typed, as soon as you hear the dong you can lift your finger off the
screen, if it is a long message you can touch the screen once with 2
fingers to stop Voiceover from continueing to read. Now you can
swipe right and find the option you want, Copy and Clear, email,
message etc. If you want to continue and add more text, double tap
on the “Cancel” button just above the Home Key, it is the last
option in the menu, but quickly found by putting your finger on the
Home Key and sliding up just a bit.

Good luck,

Sieghard

 Mary,

The Peak from myCharge.com is MUCH better than the PowerBank from Speed Dots.
Here are some of the reasons.

 1) It charges an iPad. Most battery packs don't provide the 2.1 Amps
 required.

 2) The cables are built-in so you don't have to worry about remembering or
losing the adaptors. They have Apple 30 pin and micro USB, plus a USB port.

 3) The device can recharge via USB or using the built-in 2-prong plug and a
regular wall outlet, which is faster and very convenient.

Most importantly, it talks and tells you battery status.

It is expensive at almost $100, but it's a premium product. There is a
cheaper version, with half the battery life, for $80.

I just wrote a review of a new portable battery pack / charger. It has

What sets it apart is that it talks and tells you what percent of the

iMessages Deletion

2012-08-11 Thread Neil Barnfather - TalkNav
Hi All,

Sent to both ViPhone and Macvissionaries list…

Using iMessages now on my iPad, iPhone and all three Mac's, hitting an issue
though that is quickly going to drive me insane.

If I start an iMessage conversation on my iPhone, it beautifully appears on all
my other machines and devices, lovely, well done Apple, this is great.

But, what is dam annoying is when I delete a thread it only is deleted from
that device or machine, I manually, or so it seems, have to remove each
conversation thread from each device and machine.

Surely Apple would have the brains to make this process work both ways, a
message sent to an Apple ID appears on all platforms associated, yet, likewise,
when removed / deleted would do the same.

This is quickly going to drive me mad, we got back from our vacation today, I
had left my MacMini and iMac off during the away time, when I turned them both
back on, and logged in, even though 90% of the content had already been replied
to and deleted, several hundred iMessages proceeded to download to both.

very, very annoying.

any thoughts out there.

thanks.

Please read the instructions that come with the app. It is in the menu.
The great enhancement in this update is the instructions can be read
even without an internet connection, as with the case if you put the iOS

“I have tried moving my finger up on the screen” so I believe you
may slide your finger up after you find the letter without lifting
it first, you have to do a definite swipe or flick up not a slow
slide.

Hi Jodie

Whether apps appear upon your other devices automatically is dependant upon
your iTunes settings. If the Fleksy app isn't showing up on your iPad, you
could just go to the app store on your iPad and download it. It may appear as

Re: Fleksy is now free to try

2012-08-11 Thread Kimber Gardner
Typing with fleksy is very much like the touch typing mode that is
native to the iPhone except you don't wait to hear the letter before
lifting your finger from the screen.

Try the sentence

This is a test.

Once you have fleksy running, simply begin by touching the screen
where you think the letter t is located. Without waiting to hear the
letter spoken, lift your finger and touch where the h should be.
Continue in this way until you've typed the entire sentence then to
get the options menu, touch the upper part of the screen. You will
hear a tone and various options will be listed on the screen showing
things you can do with the text you've just typed.

I hope that helps.

Fwd: Dropbox file sharing

2012-08-11 Thread Garth Humphreys
Yep, but what's the easiest way to round trip a document you've edited in
Pages. I mean you should be able to open it from the dropbox app but getting
the edited version synced back to dropbox is a bit more problematic from
memory. I haven't played with Pages for a while though. The round tripping is
why I was thinking of apps which actually sync with dropbox.

Sorry, just reread my prior post - it was poorly worded, I didn't mean you
couldn't edit them at all, I was meaning in the dropbox context. Pages allows
a few ways of sharing documents but I don't remember any way of being able to
use the 'open in' action menu to put an edited copy back into dropbox. iCloud
 is a different story though.

Moderator's reminder about off topic messages

2012-08-11 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hello all. This is just a friendly reminder that the topics allowed here
on list are the ones which pertain to the iOS devices. I understand that
there are some grey areas, like using iTunes on a Mac or PC, or which
GPS products are better when compared between iOS ones and stand alone
ones. However, those grey areas have been pushed over the limit recently
and have gone off topic. There are other lists where things of a more
general technical nature can be discussed. Also, messages about phone
scams or trickery are not about iOS either. If you want to send
something like that to the list and you know it's off topic because you
put OT in the subject line, then please consider not sending it, or at
least write the moderators to ask first.

Many thanks.

Problems With Fleksey In Upgrading to New Version

2012-08-11 Thread Eileen Misrahi
Hello,

I had purchased Fleksey when it was relatively new. Yesterday, I upgraded
the IOS to 5.1.1 (better late than never) and began to upgrade my apps.
After upgrading Fleksey, I went in to begin using it and when I was ready to
send it, I was given two options: 1 to purchase the full version and the
other to reinstalled purchased version. I did press on the purchase full
version, but then cancelled it because I didn't want to be charged for it
again. I went to restore purchased version and it stated that it couldn't be
found. After trouble shooting in my purchased apps on the App Store, I saw
that it was not listed. I then removed the app and reinstalled the previous
version back on the phone. Now, I just upgraded Fleksey and received the
same dilemma and can't update Fleksey to the newest version. What am I doing
wrong and how can I get the latest version of Fleksey on the iPhone4. Any
suggestions is most appreciative.

Thanks in advance.

Re: deleting multiple emails

2012-08-11 Thread Christina C.
H, do some email clients have an option to subscribe to certain
mailboxes/folders? I've heard of this. Maybe you are just not subscribed to
this spam mailbox on your computer. I also have one more thought. If you
don't even want t see your spam folder, somewhere in gmail you can sort of
unsubscribe to the spam folder. I think it's in settings then labels. I
prefer to have access to my spam folder though.

Re: Google Play, turning pages in iBooks

2012-08-11 Thread Damashe Thomas

Hi,

You turn pages in iBooks with a three finger swipe, either left or right,
left for the next page and right for the previous page. I believe the
reference to reading in iBooks being easier is do to the fact that a two
finger swipe down allows you to read continiously threw the book and pages
turn automatically. I am not sure, but I don't think the same applies to
google play books.

Interesting about how to turn pages. You mentioned how easy it was to
turn

pages in iBooks? How is this done? It says to double tap and hold and move
somehow to change the page. Has never worked for me so can anyone explain
how to turn pages in a book with iBooks, please. Thank you.

When I read google play books I have to do a 3 finger swipe to turn the
pages. It's not as seamless as reading an iBook or reading with read2go.
But still very do-able.

Peculiar potential fleksy issue

2012-08-11 Thread Michelle McQuigge
Hi all,

I just had a strange experience and wanted to bounce it off the list. It may
or may not be a fleksy issue - I would welcome your thoughts on this.

I went into Fleksy to write a fairly lengthy email for work. I copied the
text, went into my work inbox and hit reply for the message I was responding
to. I pasted the text in no problem. The issue occurred when I tried to
scroll through the message I had inputted to edit one small mistake. While I
could adjust the rotor setting to scroll by letter, word etc just as usual,
voiceover would not actually read me the text I was flicking through. The
tone suggested I was performing the flick gesture, but voiceover would not
comply. It simply kept repeating the long block of text I had just pasted
into the email. Scrolling worked as expected in the subject line, address
field and all other areas, just not the message body where I had pasted in
my Fleksy text. Has anyone come across this quirk so far? Might this be a
tick in the new update? A completely unrelated issue? I welcome your input.

Thanks,
Michelle

Uploading pictures to Facebook

2012-08-11 Thread Danielle McCullough
Hello everyone,

I am wondering if anybody can recommend an app that I can use to
upload pictures to Facebook. I used to use Facedekk, which I Really

what to do. I could just upload all of my pictures to one random
album, but I really don't want to do that.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Unlocking Orientation

2012-08-11 Thread Jana Schroeder
Hello,

I am having trouble unlocking the orientation on my phone. I have had it
locked in portrait mode almost since getting the phone, but I want to
unlock it because the developer of an app I am trying to use says that an
inaccessible calendar style date chooser will turn into a picker wheel if
I put my phone in landscape.

I went into the app switcher and toggled the switch so it now says
unlock, and I left the app switcher both by selecting Dismiss App
Switcher and pushing the home button. However, when I go into an app and
turn my phone in landscape nothing changes. I checked and the button in
the App Switcher says unlock so it should be working as far as I can
tell. I tried closing down all my apps that were running in the App
Switcher and re-starting.

Anyone have any advice? Sorry if this has been covered. I have not had
time t keep up with this list for a while.

Re: shopshop

2012-08-11 Thread JoJo and Clinton
Paula,

To add an item to your shopping list double tap add. If you flick to the right
you will see two edit boxes, one is for the item and the other is for the
quantity. Double tap the one that says item so you can enter in the item.
After each item you enter click done at the bottom right hand of the screen.
To get back to the shopping list itself click the name you selected for your
shopp[ing list at the top of the screen. You will now be able to see the items
you entered. Double tap each item as you get them. When you want to claear
them, tap the action button in the upper left-hand corner of the screen and tap
clear all items then tap done. What I like about this app is that it remembers
all of the items that i have typed so I don't have to enter them again. When
you need the items again, double tap add and flick to the right and you will
see all of the items you have previously entered. Just double tap the items
you want and they will be added to your list. I hope this helps.

Re: Peculiar potential fleksy issue

Since you copied the text and pasted it into an email reply, I see no way
that this could be a Fleksy issue. Once the text is on the clipboard, the
Fleksy app is no longer in the loop.

That being said, I had a problem trying to edit an email yesterday. Like
you, I had made a small mistake and needed to change a n to a m. The rotor
would not give me any options other than zoom and lines.

so I gave up and sent the email as is.

Paula,

To add an item to your shopping list double tap add. If you flick to the
right you will see two edit boxes, one is for the item and the other is for
the quantity. Double tap the one that says item so you can enter in the
item. After each item you enter click done at the bottom right hand of the
screen. To get back to the shopping list itself click the name you selected
for your shopp[ing list at the top of the screen. You will now be able to
see the items you entered. Double tap each item as you get them. When you
want to claear them, tap the action button in the upper left-hand corner of
the screen and tap clear all items then tap done. What I like about this
app is that it remembers all of the items that i have typed so I don't have
to enter them again. When you need the items again, double tap add and
flick to the right and you will see all of the items you have previously
entered. Just double tap the items you want and they will be added to your
list. I hope this helps.

Re: Peculiar potential fleksy issue

2012-08-11 Thread Michelle McQuigge
Chuck,
Our issues sound similar yet different. My rotor options were all available to
me, they just didn't work properly when they were executed within the text I
originally typed in Fleksy. What really perplexed me is that I could school by
characters, words etc when in any other fields such as as subject or cc. It's
not what your call a major problem, but it is certainly something of an
inconvenience when preparing correspondence that need to look professional.
Take care,
Michelle,

That being said, I had a problem trying to edit an email yesterday. Like you,
I had made a small mistake and needed to change a n to a m. The rotor would
not give me any options other than zoom and lines.

so I gave up and sent the email as is.

I just had a strange experience and wanted to bounce it off the list. It may

Scrolling worked as expected in the subject line, address
field and all other areas, just not the message body where I had pasted in my
Fleksy text. Has anyone come across this quirk so far? Might this be a tick
in the new update? A completely unrelated issue? I welcome your input.

 Thanks,
 Michelle

Re: deleting old tweets in tweetlist pro

2012-08-11 Thread Raul A. Gallegos

Double-tap and hold. Then swipe.

The double-tap and hold until you hear the tri-tone thingy means that
voice over has passed through your gesture and will now act upon the
item or element as if it wasn't running. When a sighted person without
voice over running wants to delete something they just swipe right with
one finger. However when voice over is on, a swipe right with one finger
reads the next element. So in order for the single-finger swipe right to
be seen as what it really does without Voice over, you have to do the
pass through first.

I suspect you know this already but want to ask so others can benefit
from the answer. I mean that as a compliment to you.
