Some questions about/help needed with using Twitterrific with voiceover
Hi all Wondering if anyone can be of any help here. Yesterday I installed Twitterrific on my IPad and IPhone. So far it looks really good, bbut I have a couple of questions which I'm hoping someone may know the answer to. Firstly, doo you know if Twitterrific would also work on my Mac? Secondly, I read in the help section of Twitterrific's settings about cleanning your timeline cash data and reloading your tweets without all the extra rubbish. I tried to follow the instructions they gave, but with relatively little joy. Has anyone else done this using VO?, and if so could you send me some instructions on how to do this?? Many thanks for any help you can give. Eleanor Sent from my iPad -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. Re: iTunes sync problem with iPhone
Hello Sieghard and list Thanks for the help. I restarted the iPhone and it solved the problem. Unless there was more a lot further down, the only thing which somebody said seemed to help was to restart both the phone and the computer. Here are a few things I would try: Restarting everything would also be my first recommendation. I would force quit all apps from the app switcher first, then turn off the phone, wait 30 seconds and restart it. Also close all programs on your computer, restart it and load iTunes again. If this doesn’t help, maybe just try a different USB port and, if you have it, a different cable. If this still doesn’t help, again force quit all apps, then go to Settings and General, at the very bottom double tap on the Reset button and select to “Select Network Settings”. This will reboot your phone after asking for confirmation. Note that you will have to reenter your WiFi password after this. Now reboot the computer and try again. Also, if you get a message on your phone asking if you want to trust the computer you connect it to, make sure you tell it you want to trust it. Post a message after trying some of this and let us know if it now worked. Question about Voice Dream Reader capacity
Hello, all. I’m using Voice Dream Reader on an iPad mini running IOS 8.3. It works well for the most part, but I’ve noticed something strange happening from time to time. I use dropbox to add files to the app. Periodically, I’ll add a file and it will be there for a day or so. Then, I’ll add another file, and a file that was previously added will disappear from the list of files. I’m not sure why this happens. Is there a limit to the number of files the app can hold? If not, does anyone know why this might be occurring? Shannon -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. All new members to the this list are moderated by default. RE: Question about Voice Dream Reader capacity
Shannon, I've not experienced your issue on my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3. I'm unaware of any limit to the number of files Voice Dream Reader can hold other than the practical limit set by the capacity of your device. Files that you add to Voice Dream whether from Dropbox or the other services it supports are actually downloaded into your device so should remain there unless your device runs out of space. have you played with the sort order setting within Voice Dream to see if files you thought were no longer there might be ordered differently from what you expected? If you continue to get unusual behavior from Voice Dream, you should write Winston as Richard suggested. You might also consider uninstalling and reinstalling the app but this might require you to reload all your files again so you should make sure you have a recent backup before doing this. Also, the latest version of Voice Dream is 3.7 and you might consider upgrading if you're not already using it. Re: Some questions about/help needed with using Twitterrific with voiceover
Well, theydo not make it easy to contact them. You have to go to the www.support.iconfactory.com web site, create an account, then you can start a discussion that will go to the support team or you can start a discussion on their public forum. The good thing about the way Twitterific (or the IconFactory) handles the captia is great. They call it humanverify and ask a question instead of having an image you have to figure out. RE: Question about Voice Dream Reader capacity
Is the file still there on Dropbox? I'm not sure if Voice Dream Reader actually stores those files or is just accessing Dropbox. If the file is removed from Dropbox and then disappears from Voice Dream Reader that would explain it. I have over a hundred books in Voice Dream, and had not had any files disappear, but most of mine are from Bookshare. If the files are still there on Dropbox, then I'd suggest writing supp...@voicedream.com and see what Winston says. You have to go to the www.support.iconfactory.com http://www.support.iconfactory.com web site, create an account, then you can start a discussion that will go to the support team or you can start a discussion on their public forum. The good thing about the way Twitterific (or the IconFactory) handles the captia is great. They call it humanverify and ask a question instead of having an image you have to figure out. I had my sighted wife look and the x was there, but not according to voiceover. Once she tapped the x, the options to clear cache, delete the account or cancel came up. I am going to try and send them feedback on this. I suggest anyone using Twitterific do the same so they know it isn't just one user's issue. Re: Ultra mini speaker
Yes, those speakers do exist. I have one. It's a ball about 2 inches high with a 4 inch wire sticking out ending in a 3.5 Mm jack. The speaker comes with a charging cable which ends in a USB plug for recharging the speaker. The sound quality is good enough for spoken word audio books or NLS books. On a full charge, the speaker gives around 8 hours battery life. In my opinion, there are other choices. The round ball when not being recharged or plugged in can be easily knocked off a desk or nightstand. Even a small fold out foot would of fixed the short coming. If your willing to put up with that minor issue it's a nice talking point and may even help you meet new friends. Re: Question about Voice Dream Reader capacity
Thanks to both of you. If the problem persists, I will write to the developer. Is there a way to back up the data on Voice Dream, or would I just elect to back up and later restore my whole device? Amazon echo an audible
I started a new thread reflecting this topic. Yes, it is very easy to listen to audible on the Amazon echo. All you have to do is have your echo connected and signed in, and say Alexa read X, where ex is the title of the book you want to read. It gets your book and start reading. if you subsequently read that same book on say an iPod, or an iPad or whatever, then come back to the echo and want to resume reading that book, it should pick up where the last reading occurred on your eye device. I have not actually tried that, but that's what they say. Good luck. Mary Sent from my iPhone -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor Update
Hello, I posted an inquiry about Bluetooth heart rate monitors a few days ago. Well after a bit of research and luck, I found a device that works with voiceover. I bought the Polar H7 heart rate chest monitor on Amazon for about $50. I used Runkeeper app to pair the monitor with my IPhone 5s. It works good and I have no problems as of now. I am in the process of trying other apps that are voiceover friendly to maybe get a better app experience. Jeff -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. Re: Ultra mini speaker
Thanks Alan, I think I have a line on the perfect speaker for what I want to use it for. It is small, pairs with the push of one button and has a clip which you can attach to a strap or on your collar. It is called the Tadpole because of it’s shape so it might also be a source of conversation. Actually, I usually find it easy to begin conversations since I am, by nature a Chatty Cathy. But since I am now retired, 72 and a widow it is always good to have new things to talk about. The name of the supplier is Guidelighyts and Gadgets and one of the owners is named Barry. Both he and his partner are blind so they use the things they sell. If you have any need for speakers, headphones etc., I can give you some contact info. The easiest solution, which worked for me, was to find a reset button on the bottom of the device. I never would have found it without some sided help. But once I knew where it was, I was able to activate it with a paperclip. And then I got my echo set up. I must say, however, that accessing the echo app on both the phone and the iPad is quite frustrating. I think someone said that they thought the iPad app was more accessible.in order to scroll, you must turn voiceover off, then scroll with one finger, the way sighted folks do. The checkboxes you used to customize the news briefing do not work with voiceover. Even on the Mac, setting up the echo is not fun, because it requires lots of mouse routing and the refresh of the app is not always evident. Amazon does not deserve good grades for their excess ability of this experience, whether on and I device or the Mac. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Tech-OT1301-Buckshot-Water-Resistant/dp/B00EPWZXLA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 http://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Tech-OT1301-Buckshot-Water-Resistant/dp/B00EPWZXLA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8qid=1434345240sr=8-1keywords=outdoor+technology+buckshot qid=1434345240sr=8-1keywords=outdoor+technology+buckshot If the link doesn’t work for you, just go to Amazon and search for “Outdoor Technology Buckshot”. The speaker is cylindrical, 3.5 inches long and 1.5 inches thick. Controls are on one end, speaker on the other. It comes with a rubber strap which you can loop around a bicycle handle, baby stroller or anything else like that, it works with most backpack straps as long as it’s not too wide. Relaxation App for Help Getting to Sleep
Hello Everyone. Back in March of this year there were a few inquiries about relaxation apps. I thought I'd take this time to send an update about the NatureSpace app, if anyone is interested. When the inquiry occurred in March, I was using the app, Relax Melodies, and then someone mentioned the NatureSpace app, so I downloaded it and have been using it ever since. At first the App was a bit quirky while using VoiceOver, but a recent update has changed all of that. The NatureSpace App is totally accessible and VoiceOver users can access all menus. The new enhancements to the App are enjoyable just as well. Firstly, for those of you who may not know the NatureSpace app, it's a free app. Six free tracks download with the App, and you can purchase additional titles through their in-App store, located within the App. You can listen to a short preview of all tracks. You can purchase ones you like, and they range from 99 cents to $3.99 US dollars. Prior to the update, your list of tracks you own would get mixed with the previews, and would be tricky to delete them. Now, after the App update, all previews are a snap to delete from your library list. There are new menus too, which make navigating this App using VoiceOver very easy. There is a Console button, which gives you App information, the opportunity to submit a review on the App, email support, legal information, an opportunity to adjust your volume, use AirPlay, ability to mix the audio from this App with other Apps. You will also find the delete previews button in the Console menu. When done, you will find the done button in the top left of your screen. There is a Share button, so you can tell others about this great App. There is a Transitions timer button so you can choose your sleep and/or wake ambiance. You can get details about the track you are playing by selecting the Detail button. You can select the DisplayFolder Editing Controls button to manipulate your tracks. In that menu, you can put your tracks in alphabetical order, group them by category, or arrange them any way you wish. You can also create folders, name the folder whatever you wish and put your desired tracks in the folder. This feature was impossible in the previous version when using VoiceOver, but now it's so simple! If you make a mistake or change your mind, not to worry, there is an Edit button and Reorder button. I enjoy this App and use it daily. It's not only great for sleeping ... it's great for reading, studying, meditation, etc. The catalog boasts many categories such as Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings, Thunderstorms, Rain, Island, Wind, Waves, Rivers, Abstract, and Sci-Fi. They also offer collections, such as the ThunderGod and Solutions collections, for a cost-effective means. The Developers did a really good job on this App for us VoiceOver users. I got all the rain tracks and many others, and I must say, I enjoy them all. Just wanted to share this App with those of you who may not be aware of the total make-over of the NatureSpace app. Naturespace - Relax Meditate Focus Sleep and Rest with 3D Sounds, sonic therapy for anxiety and stress relief by Holographic Audio Theater https://appsto.re/us/n4IOs. Itunes 12.1
Somewhat unhappy news from ripping with iTunes 12.1. I have some old time radio discs which showed up on the database as being different albums than what they are. I changed the track names successfully, and went to the cd info button and clicked that. I thought I'd changed all that info, too. When I tabbed through the various fields nothing sounded amis. I ripped the cd. Itunes didn't put the cd where I expected it, under artist, but it put it under the original artist which was one of the things I had changed. Also, there seems to be an issue of names. The names were The John Smith Murder Case and a date 01-02-15. All names were truncated after the first number or two. Any ideas? Again, pointing to tutorials, books, or podcast is welcomed. Thanks. -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. Re: Ultra mini speaker
If you contact them, he will send you a copy of their catalog for an upcoming ACB conference. I have not contacted him direct since it is Sunday but will be calling him tomorrow. I will be happy to pass along any info I get. I plan to order the speaker mentioned because I think it will be just what I need. Or, let’s just say, I haven’t found this speaker yet. Thanks for telling us about it. If you have a link to it, please share. It sounds interesting and I would like to know about other products. Their prices are competitive and they have some interesting gadgets. Where the H**l did you get that they may ask and pow! new conversation leading to your marrage and 6 kids. Or not! RE: Looking For Braille Keyboard Keystroke
Left and right through pages is o-chord for right and 1 3 5 chord to go left. Going up and down screens is dots 3 4 5 6 chord and 1 4 5 6 chord respectively. I hope this helps. If it makes a difference, I think he has a Hems braille display. What is the keystroke for the three-finger swipe up and down to change screens? And, the three-finger swipe left and right?
