Hello list
I am a bit confused because at first I heard that these sounds and vibration
would be available only on the pro and max but now it sounds as if the plain
iPhone 14 has them too. Can someone please clarify?

RE: Reading Collapsed Email Messages with Native Mail Client?

2022-09-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You can either just double tap the message and then use the rotor which when a
message thread is open has a "Messages" feature and if you turn it to messages
and then flick down with one finger it will go to the next message (or the
previous if you flick up).
You can also turn the rotor before you open the message and select the "expand"
option which then expands the thread and you can flick left and right just as
if they were individual emails.

If so, mine would only update to iOS15.7 and no further.

There is a slider switch on the right side, if it's towards the back of the
keyboard it is on.
The easy switch keys are F1, F2 and F3 and you have to press and hold them for
I think 5 seconds or a bit longer to start pairing mode. Once you press and
hold them for 5 or 6 or maybe 8 seconds just check in Settings > Bluetooth on
your ipHone and see if it is listed at the bottom of y our devices.

RE: Talking scale

2022-09-28 Thread Cristóbal Muñoz
I bought my cup and spoon sets from Blind Mice Mart. I believe they also have
the bowl set.

Regarding the talking scale thing… I guess I’m just snake bit when it comes to
My Weigh. Those scales give out on me in a matter of days whenever I try to use
them. From what I recall and someone who’s using them can chime in, those scale
can only weigh to the gram. That might be an issue depending on the level of
accuracy you’re looking for too. Also, The audio feedback was kind of lagging.
Not an issue for most things, but for coffee pour overs and Aeropresses and
such, latency or the lack of real time feedback becomes a factor.

When this topic’s come up before, I’ve always recommended the DropScale from
Drop company now rebranded as Fresco. Checking them out though, it seems
they’re no longer selling that scale anymore. Fresco’s partnered with bigger
appliance brands like GE, Kenwood and Instant Brands and Bosch instead it looks
like. Too bad. The dropscale’s a good little Bluetooth scale.

In any event. I recently got a Reflex kitchen scale as it too is one that’s
been brought up on this list as an accessible option. Playing around with it,
It’s accessible enough. It seems the company has a million apps for every
possible function. The most accessible one for VoiceOver users though is
probably the “Just Scale” app. One annoying thing about it is that you have to
sign up to use the scale (thank you hide my email Apple).

One difference between the dropscale and this scale is that with the dropscale,
you could place VoiceOver focus on the element where the weight would be spoke
and VO would speak it in real time. It was pretty responsive with very little
latency if any to make a difference. Again, probably not a huge dealbreaker for
most things, but for coffee brewing recipes, every milliliter counts. The
Reflex scale on the other hand has a separate talking function from within the
app that you can adjust (selecting voice/speed) that will announce the weight
as well. It’s advertised as an accessibility feature for the visually impaired,
but it feels gimmicky. I’ve got the app voice playback speed cranked to 100%,
but no matter how fast it speaks the weight, it doesn’t give me the readings
fast enough or as close to when they are occurring to keep a current snapshot
of where I am in my pour for example. Again, I’m a coffee geek so for me and in
my circumstance, this is an issue, but it may not be for others. Unfortunately,
none of the Reflex apps seem to have the ability to have VoiceOver speak the
readings of the weight fluctuations by simply placing VO on that element. The
dropscale has the reflex scale beat in this regard hands down. I will say
though, connectivity with the Reflex app is super-fast. Not that connecting to
the dropscale was an exercise in patience, but concerns about hassling with
having to connect with a scale etc. really are no big deal. I would also add
that both these scales weigh to the tenth of the gram.

There are other Bluetooth apps advertised on Amazon ranging from around $12 to
$40 or so. I’m tempted to try another one. Mainly, something that would allow
VoiceOver to speak the measurement readings like the dropscale. I’ve had this
thing for over four years now, but like all Internet connected things, they
won’t last forever or at least their apps won’t.

A few weeks ago, I also posted an inquiry regarding the Acaia bluetooth
espresso scales and if anyone had experience with them. These are ridiculously
expensive scales used to measure out espresso shots and pour overs (everyone’s
got their hobby). Reflex has a pretty small 500gram scale that might work for
the type of mannual espresso machine I’m looking to get, but it might be just a
centimeter or two too big. That and again, the latency for measuring out a shot
would probably be a dealbreaker anyway. So if anyone knows of a super small
bluetooth kitchen scale that can weigh to the tenth of the gram and has minimal
VoiceOver latency feedback, I’d like to know as well…

If you don’t have to worry about real time measurement readings against a timer
or anything like that, then the Reflex scales would probably check a lot of
boxes for you. I believe they were even going to come out with a 33 LBS model,
but not sure about that now.

Cristóbal

I have their 9-cup set and also the measuring spoon set and they are very nice.
Just looking on their website they do mention Maxiaids on their website under

I wonder if that is more of a wholesaler/distributor who then sells to smaller

2022-09-28 Thread tai.tomasi8
I know that the FlickType app has been discontinued. I thought Apple built
in a feature similar to typing with FlicType where you could tap in the

Re: Accessible photo album

2022-09-28 Thread chaim biberfeld
Now I have the original SE but this photo finding problem has been the same
since my iPhone 4 of 15 years ago. Perhaps I can explain it this way: the phone
reads the album names, but when I flick right it stays where it is on the album
name. If I Open the album by double tapping, and then move my finger down, on
The screen, or swipe right, it just jumps down to the menu bar on the bottom. I
can play on with the screen and find a picture or two but it does not behave in
the usual voiceover manner of swipe right to the next object etc.

RE: Really miss the add featureto dictated messages

2022-09-28 Thread bentleyj1952
I'm not caught up on mail so this may have already been resolved.

I'm not having this problem when using Ciri with my S E 2020. I suggest that
you try saying "add to this message" instead of just saying the word "add"

Hope this helps.

Nope. Not working that way am I a SE 2020. I doubt there’s a setting I am
missing. It only allows me to change it. Not at. I can use the command ad but
it will take that dictation but than it Deletes anything that I’ve dictated
earlier in the same message.
I am talking about dictating a message from the home screen, not from within
the message app. Within the message app it’s pretty full proof, dictation that
is.

Try swiping from within the

Screen recognition can be found in the rotor when in the Facebook app. Or by

Security conscious apps would mostly not let you change your Face ID settings
once you’re logged in . If the app does support the face ID, The best approach
would be to delete the app and reinstall. When you login for the first time
after reinstalling the app, you would typically be asked if you want to use the
face ID for logging in. You may have to find that option on the screen and
also have to ensure to check The box that allows your app to save your user
ID. Cannot guarantee it will work but Worth the effort

Hi Fazil, once you are logged in to your BMO app you have 3 tabs across the
bottom:

Home, Pay and Ttransfer and More

OK, I should say that maybe your tabs could be a bit different since I only
have a BMO Air Miles Mastercard and no bank account so I use my Mastercard
number to sign in, but either way you should have "More" at the bottom right.

Once you tap on that look for "App Settings" and select it. Here you can turn
on Face Id, however it will probably ask you if you want to use Face Id as long
as you find the checkbox or toggle switch for "Remember my card" at the login
screen.

You have to give the app permission to remember your c ard before you can
enable Face Id and I'm pretty sure once you do this and enter your password,
the app will prompt you if you want to Face Id.

Hi Group.

My bank is Bank of Montreal whose banking app is very accessible and I am very
happy with it.

I have this app on iPhone8 and I access my account with fingerprint instead of
password.

I also have iPhone12 and I am comfortable now with FaceID as it works for me
%90 of the time. I have just added the app of BMO to iPhone12 and logged in
with Password.

My question is, would iPhone12 let me log in next time to my account? If yes,
would it ask for my password? How can I tell iPhone12 that next time I would
like to use my FI instead of my PW?

Thanks!

I use a SE 2020, but maybe I'll go look at where screen recognition is.
It is not in my roter.

As for your problem with Facebook. You didn't mention which iPhone you are
using. If you are using an iPhone 11 or newer, confirm that screen recognition
is off.

RE: Really miss the add featureto dictated messages

2022-09-28 Thread Richard Turner
ON my 13 pro, from the home screen, saying Hey Siri send a message to my wife,
Answering, what do you want to say with , "everything is fine here."
Waiting, when it asks, "ready to send it?" I said, Add to the message."
It said, what do you want to say or maybe it said add," I said "just testing to
see if this works."
It read back, everything is fine here. Just testing to see if this is working."

So, not sure what to suggest.

Within the message app it’s pretty full proof, dictation that
is.

After I have stopped talking and Siri asks me what I wanna do what she asked me
is do you want to send or change. I have tried adding instead of changing and
that’s when there’s a problem. It doesn’t work like it used to.

RE: Notification center

2022-09-28 Thread Carolyn
I don't intend to be attached to any kind of peripheral keyboard for my iPhone.
It never dawned on me that a peripheral keyboard could be an issue with beta
testing. My bet is that savvy betas can do with or without them and probably do
both ways.

Did they ever fix Facebook, I have to access it on my old 6S otherwise I can’t
enter anything into an edit field in the what’s on your mind or add a caption
to something I’m posting and sometimes comments too. I really hate these bugs.
I wonder sometimes if beta testers are using their Bluetooth keyboards too much
to do testing when some of us are still really prefer touch gestures. Yes using
a Bluetooth keyboard might make things more efficient and less buggy but I do
not want to be attached to a Bluetooth keyboard all the time.

Re: Banking App On Two iDevices?

2022-09-28 Thread TaraPrakash
Security conscious apps would mostly not let you change your Face ID settings
once you’re logged in . If the app does support the face ID, The best approach
would be to delete the app and reinstall. When you login for the first time
after reinstalling the app, you would typically be asked if you want to use the
face ID for logging in. You may have to find that option on the screen and
also have to ensure to check The box that allows your app to save your user
ID. Cannot guarantee it will work but Worth the effort

RE: Really miss the add featureto dictated messages

2022-09-28 Thread Richard Turner
You can still add to messages using Siri.
When it asks if you are ready to send it, just say "add to it." Then it asks,
what do you want to add, say your addition, and then say send it when it asks,
or say add to it again.
My test just now, it read back the whole message with the addition before
asking me if it should send it.

Does it bother anybody else that dictates text messages that you can no longer
add to a message but that you can only change it? I know sometimes anything you
add might delete what was in the edit field before if you’re not in the message
app. But often it works. I really miss the ad feature as opposed to having to
change the whole message again. Sort of forces me to go into the message app
and use that since that never causes any problems. but I like to do things as
quickly as possible. The updates makes many things more arduous. There’s
more layering. And I can’t stand it. Does anybody else feel this way?

Re: Messages app opening to compose screen

2022-09-28 Thread Vicky Collins
Well, it’s back to the basics that I should’ve thought of myself. While I do keep all messages erased after no longer needed and keep the apps cleared out so there’s nothing in the app switcher, I completely forgot about rebooting to see if that would work. And, of course, rebooting did fix the problem, so thanks very much for jogging my memory on that basic Solution. Sent from my iPhoneOn Sep 28, 2022, at 9:25 AM, Richard Turner wrote:have you hit cancel on that open message? If you have not canceled it, it will stay open.If you did cancel it, perhaps clearing the app switcher and rebooting.Lastly, double check that screen recognition is not on.Richard, USA.“What we think or what we know or what we believe is in the end of little consequence. have you hit cancel on that open message?
If you have not canceled it, it will stay open.
If you did cancel it, perhaps clearing the app switcher and rebooting.
Lastly, double check that screen recognition is not on.

Notification center

2022-09-28 Thread deidre muccio
How do I get rid of notification center notifications. I have notifications
turned on for Phone and calendar appointments and reminders. I turned off mail
because the phone would be pinging constantly. I don’t need to see these
duplicate mmessages announced with a long list of all these things. I can
check that manually myself. I hate all this redundancy. I never look forward to
updates either but this might be an old problem not a new one.

Messages app opening to compose screen

2022-09-28 Thread Vicky Collins
This started a couple of days ago, but I can’t say whether or not it started
before or after I updated to iOS 16.0.2. When I open the Messages app on my 13
mini, it goes directly to composing a message, while when I open the app on my
12 mini, it still goes to my list of messages like normal. I have no idea what
I did to make the 13 mini start opening to compose a message, but does anybody
have any idea on how to get it back to opening to the list of messages?

Startup and shutdown sound on iPhone 14

2022-09-28 Thread Fanus Buys
Hello list
I am a bit confused because at first I heard that these sounds and vibration
would be available only on the pro and max but now it sounds as if the plain
iPhone 14 has them too. Can someone please clarify?
Regards
Fanus

Gera.
Yes. If you go from the podcast you are listening to... go into settings. You
can change the setting for that particular podcast. I'm referring to the
settings button after the buttons for "all" and "unplayed."

Overcast And Unlistened limiting per podcast?

2022-09-28 Thread Gerardo Corripio
You'll know how within the Overcast app, one can set up up to how many
unlistened podcast episodes one can have before the app automatically starts
deleting episodes? I've got mine set to 5, for instance. But I wonder if can
one set up for instance, when it comes to NPR, or other evening News podcasts
(CBS, NBC, Telemundo), to set up those so that after 2 or 3 unlistened
episodes, these can start being deleted? The rest of them, dough, I'd like to
leave at 5. Can this be done?
