Can I stop VoiceOver from coming through my Bluetooth stereo speakers
Hello: As the subject line states, can I keep ghoiceover from coming out of my bluetooth stereo speakers? I'd like VoiceOver to come out of my phone, and the music to come out of the speakers. Is there a setting somewhere that will let me do that? Thanks. Bobby Druesedow -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Re: Pit boss grilling app
I guess I did miss that part of the questions. Smile! YES, the Pit Boss vertical smoker is kind of analog. The nob used to set the temp clicks each time you turn it which is very usable. The temp fluctuates more on the Pit Boss than on the Traeger. The Traeger has a digital screen and the up and down arrows do kind of click when you push them, but I always use AIRA to verify my temp on it. I've tried using SeeingAI to read the little screen, but haven't had much success with it. Re: Not getting notifications
Yes. I have been having that problem for a couple of weeks. I am running version 14.6. It comes and goes. I cannot duplicate it. It seems that the only thing I can tail is if our hit the mute switch on the side to silence the phone and then turn it back on the problem starts. I’m not sure what it takes to fix it, but sometimes it seems to repair itself. Re: Accessible smoker?
I use a Pit Boss vertical pellet smoker. The knob to set the temperature is operated by clicks at 25 degree increments. I don't have a Wifi model, but I use the iGrill meat probes which work very well. I also have a small Traeger Ranger pellet grill, but it is more difficult to operate. I use Aira when getting the temp set on it, and then use the iGrill meat probes connected to my phone via bluetooth. I haven't tried any of the smokers that connect to my Wifi. Hope this helps. Re: Bank America new bill pay function in mobile app
It has changed, and is more difficult. I found that I could only swipe through about 4 payees, and then it would jump to the bottom of the list. If you will do a 3 finger swipe down before you reach the last one in the group then you should get to the next group of 4 or 5 payees. I called 800-933-6262 to ask about the changes that were made that don't work with VO, and they sent me to a department where I spoke with someone who was supposed to get back to me, but this was a month or so ago, and I'm still waiting by the phone. Re: Frustration with Native Weather App
You might try 3 finger swiping right and left instead of having to go into the edit city menu. That seems to work for me most of the time. Sent from my iPhone On Feb 18, 2019, at 10:03 AM, 'Bill Gallik' via VIPhone wrote: There is a phenomenon with the native Weather App where, at times, the predicted temperatures do not appear in the hourly nor daily forecasts. This is corrected by entering the “Edit Cities” dialog and toggling between a couple of the listed towns. Then, after doing that and double tapping the desired city the temps once again appear in the forecasts lines. I will add here that although Mason, WI is listed as my default “city,” Iron River, WI is 5 miles closer to where i live so I prefer to get the forecast information for Iron River. I know that sounds a bit questionable. After all, how much difference would it make? Well, you would be surprised - there is frequently a 5 degree (F) difference; particularly in the midst of summer and the dead of winter. The App seems to force Mason as the default - that is my address city despite Iron River being so much closer. Can anyone offer any suggestions to eliminate this rather annoying phenomenon? * * * * * * * * * * * * - Bill from Ino, Wisconsin - “Character is found in how you treat people who cannot do anything for you!” - Robert Wright, 19??-Present -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Shortcuts App Podcasts for Use In Other Apps
Hello: I am looking for any podcast that might give me information on how to open another app, then execute actions within that app. For example, I would like to open TuneIn, then have it open the sports stream for my favorite team. Another example might be to open my NOAA weather radio app, and start playing a selected radio stream. Any direction would be appreciated. Re: Need help setting up the qardio blood pressure app
Hello Kim: Can you send a link to where you bought the Qardio Arm blood pressure cuff, and the link to the app in the app store? Also, a link to where I can find the podcast would be helpful. I know this doesn't answer your question, but I am wanting to find an accessible blood pressure monitor that connects to my iPhone. Re: THE ROTOR - IS IT TIME TO THINK AGAIN?
I have gone into settings and moved the items I use the most to where I want them. This makes it easy to cycle back and forth between my most used rotor items. I have a handful of items that I don't use all of the time, so I have to crank through them with the roter, but I don't want to remove them from the roter because the times I do need them, it's just too nice having them in the roter. Also, and maybe this is because I don't use my iPhone enough, but the roter starting in a context sensitive place is great most of the time, but if I want to change the granularity then I have to start cranking, and I never know if it's most efficient to crank left or right before I start. Personally, I like the suggestion of having two tiers of roter actions. The higher level tier for those things I use all of the time, like granularity settings, and those I want in the roter but don't need them there all of the time, like VoiceOver volume. Maybe one of the options could just be more roter settings and you could just flick down to get to those additional roter options or flick up to collapse those settings. > On 11/14/2017 06:28 PM, Sue B wrote: > Why not just go into the Rotor settings and remove the ones you don't use? > >> On 11/13/17 7:29 PM, 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone wrote: >> Hi all, >> >> I have been noticing that, with the increase of features and upgrades, so >> too have there become more rotor actions that, perhaps, I might want to use, >> so I have put them there but found that often the rotor needs a fair amount >> of turning to get to a particular option right in the middle. Re: Possible Disruption of Dropbox Support for Some iOS Text Editors
I spoke with someone at AFB about this problem. He informed me that there would be no more development with Access Note, and that it would not be updated to work with Dropbox. Sent from my iPhone On Sep 6, 2017, at 4:09 PM, Craig Wernerwrote: Hello, everyone. If I understand correctly, Dropbox will cease using its present API sometime in September, which may cause certain iOS text editors not to transfer files to Dropbox. If this is true, I assume this is a problem that text editor developers are working to solve. Unfortunately, a friend wrote to the AccessNote developer about what was being done and has received no reply. This is consonant with my experience with a lack of a response from AFB about AccessNote support. Is my assumption about the Dropbox API correct? If so, which editor developerss are taking the matter in hand? Thank you for all help. Craig -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Re: echo link
As Scott said in his email, you do have to have your license verified. I recently did this. I had to go to the FCC website and enter my PRN and have my password reset. Then I was able to download the license and then upload it to EchoLink. I found it quicker to do the password reset and license download and upload from the computer. I didn't have much luck using my phone. After doing this, and getting the app set up, I found it very accessible and user-friendly. After taking the screen shot, open the BeSpecular app. Then double tap on upload picture from gallery. once your photos open, double tapp on all photos. Then go to the last pic in the gallery which should be the screen shot. I usually get to the last photo by doing a four finger tap on the bottom of the screen. Then double tap on the pic, and it uploads to BeSpeacular. Then follow the directions given by the BeSpecular app. Sent from my iPhone On Sep 5, 2016, at 9:07 PM, Sieghard Weitzel <siegh...@live.ca> wrote: OK, so you describe on how to take a screenshot and how to go to your camera roll where it is saved, how does that help a blind user? -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Bobby Druesedow Sent: Monday, September 5, 2016 6:26 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: solving capcias on a web page Press the home button and the power button at the same time. Re: Completely Baffled at TuneIn Pricing
I am currently paying 7.99 per month for the premium subscription. I have had it for several months. Sent from my iPhone On Sep 4, 2016, at 8:11 PM, Evan Reesewrote: Thanks Chris, if this is still true, well, $9.99 per month isn’t quite as tempting as $7.99 per month. I confess to being a little surprised that I haven’t gotten a reply from anyone who’s bought it recently who could say definitively what the cost is. I will write to the developer, but what I also will do is try out some of the other radio apps before I put any money out. There are quite a few of them on Apple Vis, and I might like one or more of those better. And I can still use the free TuneIn app anyhow. Thanks again. Premium not only gives you access to listen to sporting events of many leagues, but also gives you a bigger number of premium radio stations of all kinds to listen too. Tune in pro is a one time cost of $9.99, and not only takes away ads, but also gives you a recording feature where you can record from any station allowing you to listen to it at a later time. I do not know if they have changed their prices since I bought the app a few years ago, but this is how it was then. Re: Identifying small batteries
I would recommend that you try to be specular, and ask these questions of someone who can see the battery. I have had great results with pictures with the B specular app. If you tell the person what information you would like, they do their best to tell you what you might need to do with the picture to get the information you want. Some are regular alkaline and some are rechargeable and hybrid rechargeables. I wish to separate these into appropriate groups by using something like Bespecular, Be My Eyes, or possibly the KNFB reader for IOS. First of all, I am wondering whether the camera in my I Phone 6 can accomplish this with something as small and curved as a triple A battery. Second, does the relevant info on the battery go with the curvature of the battery, or is it written parallel to the seam? I would assume it would be parallel to the seam, but we all know what happens when one assumes. Also, is the information to be read likely to be near the seam? Last question for today. Although I do not have any button batteries whose numbers I need to know, but would my i phone 6 camera be able to identify the numbers on a button battery? Thanks. Help with the netatmo weather station app
Hello, I have the Netatmo weather station running on several devices. I am running the latest update to the app. Since updating, I am having a great deal of difficulty locating the outdoor conditions. I can no longer find the maximum high or low for the indoor temps as well. I have the rain gauge and the outdoor module I show sometimes 3 pages and sometimes 4 pages in the app. When I change pages, I can find the indoor information as well as the rain gauge, but have a very hard time finding the outdoor conditions. Any help in navigating this newest update would be appreciated. The previous version of the app worked fine, and I could find maximum and minimum temps without problems on both outdoor and indoor modules. Pleas help. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Question about TV Guide app
Hello, I have a question about the TV guide app. When flicking through the app in the sports section, there is an add that says it covers the page. I can look at parts day, but I have difficulty getting past the add. Even when flicking through headings, I can't get through the whole day. Is there a way to navigate past the ad that I am not aware of? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Re: College Football
There are several different ones. The one I am using costs 9.99 per month, and is listed as College Sports Live in the app store. You will need to use a computer to sign up, and to put your credit card information in. It is through CBS interactive, and is what used to be All Access through College Sports TV. So far, it is usable with Voiceover. You just need to make sure that the teams you like are among the teams they carry. I'm sure others will tell you about other apps I own that you don't have to subscribe to, and they are some good ones, but you take a chance that none of the radio streams offered in those apps will work on all games. I really like college, football, and try to get as many options to listen as I can even if it requires several different apps to get what I want. Hope this helps. RE: Netatmo Rain Sensor has been released
Hello Seighard: I have ordered my rain gauge as well. I do have a question though. I have updated Netatmo on my iPod, but not on my iPhone. On my iPod with the newest version, it shows no data available for minimum and maximum outdoor temperature. My iPhone with the older version of the app still shows these two readings correctly. Have you noticed anything like this after your update? From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Saturday, April 12, 2014 1:41 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Netatmo Rain Sensor has been released Hello Netatmo Weather Station Users, Just thought I let you know that the Netatmo rain sensor is now available. You may have seen a recent update to the Netatmo app and if you checked the What's New you would have seen that the main item was support for the new rain sensor. This means you can now have the weather station which consists of the main indoor module and 1 outdoor module, you can add up to 3 more additional indoor modules and now the rain sensor. The indoor module measures current indoor temperature, minimum and maximum temperature for the current day (from 12:00 AM until 11:59 PM), indoor humidity, CO2 level and noise (sound meter is only on the main indoor module, it is not supported for the additional indoor modules). The outdoor module measures current temperature, Feels Like temperature, minimum and maximum temperature, humidity and pressure. It also gives an air quality value, but that is accessed from official air quality sensors so depending where you are it may or may not be accurate. Now that the rain sensor has been added the weather station is another step to being more complete, as far as I know Netatmo will be releasing an Anemometer (wind sensor) later this year or next year. The rain sensor, just like the additional indoor modules, is $79, shipping to Canada was $17 and I think in the States it is $8. If you already own the weather station and have the app you can order right from there. I discovered a button one swipe to the right of the Last Updated field, Voiceover reads it as PluvioMeterStation button. Not sure what if anything this means, but if you tap it you are taken to a page which starts with Rain Gauge for the Netatmo Weather Station, there is a Close button at the top right and information about the rain gauge including a message that says you can preorder it and that it will be shipped within 15 days. It also then says that it is in stock, that you can add 1 rain gauge to a Netatmo Weather Station and it gives the price and an Add to Cart button. I went through the ordering and check-out process easily, everything is fully accessible and you can pay via Amazon EasyPay, PayPal or credit card. Now, the warning I should give is that I have not yet spoken to Carlos, the head developer, as to whether the readings from the rain gauge are accessible for Voiceover users. I have emailed him and once I get a reply I'll of course report what he said. I also ordered my rain gauge and provide more feedback once I have it and connected it to my station. I am quite certain that given Netatmo's commitment to accessibility that the information from the rain gauge is or will be accessible, but for those who want to be careful it might be a good idea to wait. However, I can't get anything to appear on my display. Only way is to delete the device from the phone, and restart, and pair it again whenever I unlock the phone. RE: MBraille - On the road experience
Hello: I very seldom chime in on something like this, but I find the Mbraille app the most useful app I have purchased. If someone is a good contracted braille user, it will increase your speed in texting, creating documents, writing emails and in doing numerous tasks. I thought when I bought the app that it was only $15, but it may have been $30. As I understand it now, when you download the fre version, it does allow you to use the texting feature. I believe that for anyone who likes the ability to input using contracted braille that this app is the answer, and I use it so much that when I need to actually use the iPhone keyboard that I have to think twice to make sure that I'm not trying to do braille input. I do recommend the free version to play with for a while to make sure it fits your needs, but I can say it has done very well for me. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of E. Wayne Brumley Sent: Sunday, September 01, 2013 8:55 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: MBraille - On the road experience Sounds like it might be a good solution on a long road trip but I agree the $30 price tag would mean it would have to be a very long trip to justify it. I had lunch with a group of new friends. As one of these friends was driving me home, we began driving on some rough road. I thought what a great chance to test typing accuracy! I pulled out my iPod Touch 5th gen and began typing a message. I first tried typing a 3 sentence paragraph using the touch typing keyboard method, and I ended up making lots of mistakes and found it was difficult to hear what I was typing (I was not wearing headphones). I didn't get past the first sentence before getting a bit frustrated. I turned on standard typing and found it was easier to type via split typing, but I still could not hear the letters well and had I turned up the volume I would have probably annoyed others so I did not do so. Finally, I launched MBraille and found that typing the 3 sentences was not only quickly accomplished, but I also found it very easy, and I had almost 0 spelling errors. I'm assuming the difference is that while touch typing and split typing, one must very steadily hold the device in one hand while trying to type with the other hand. This results in both hands simultaneously performing different tasks. On the other hand, using MBraille, for the most part, both hands are moving in synchrony and are placed almost 100% identically equally to one another which facilitates holding the device and entering data as the space one needs to interact with the device is much smaller (6 points rather than 26+ points associated with the letters on the keyboard). After using MBraille I switched back to regular touch typing and standard typing, and again I was having difficulty completing the typing task. In short, whether bumpy road or not, MBraille does seem to offer a very quick and hassle free typing experience. I gotta say, it is still hard for me to pull the trigger on the price because $30, to me and only me, seems a bit excessive for an app less than 1 meg in size. I hope this device goes on sale at some point as I'd definitely purchase it for $15 or $20. :) Two thumbs up for MBraille! I don't find it either. I looked at my receipt from iTunes, and it looks like the app developer was Jung Disk. I don't find the app by this developer either. It seems that I read somewhere that Apple didn't want people developing shortcuts to things that are in settings. I really like this app since I can turn Bluetooth on quickly when in airplane mode. This allows me to connect quickly with my braille display and Bluetooth keyboard when doing work when on a flight. To bad they took it out. I'd like to have seen an app that would let you turn cellular data on and off in the same manner as the Bluetooth app. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Katey Glass Sent: Monday, April 30, 2012 4:45 PM To: viphone Subject: Bluetooth OnOff Either I'm missing it completely, or Apple has removed this App from the AppStore. I went to look for it to show it to a friend today and I can't find it. I downloaded it a few weeks ago when someone on here first mentioned it, but now it's gone from the AppStore. Anyone else find it? Katey -- A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart. Re: The pages app
I have paired my focus 40 blue with the iPhone and tried to using pages, but I did not have much success. I use a great deal of technology and do not find pages and acceptable and efficient means for taking notes or for editing documents. I may be the only one who feels this way, but the other apps that can be used for notetaking or working with documents are much more efficient these apps include noticing as well as several other text editors. I would not recommend it as a good wife for a college student to work. Hope this helps.. Sent from my iPhone On Apr 25, 2012, at 3:10 PM, Hope Paulos hope.pau...@gmail.com wrote: Hello all. Can someone who has the pages app email me off-list? I have several questions about the ability to search a document. A friend of mine is working as a technology consultant and wanted to know if the IPhone with pages installed paired with a Braaille display would work for a blind student. He is also considering a Braille Note Apex. Any opinions on or off-list would be greatly appreciated. Naming Documents In Pages
Good Morning: In the past, I have deemed Pages as completely useless. I'm sure it's mostly user ignorance though. Can someone tell me how to name a document in Pages? Every document I start is called blank, and I can't for the life of me figure out to name a document what I want to call it. Re: Naming Documents In Pages
Is there anyway to do the double tap with a keyboard with VO off? I tried to do it with the traditional way on the keyboard, but it didn't work. I was able to rename one document using the touch screen. Thanks. You have to select Documents, then in the list of documents, place one finger on the one you wish to rename, toggle VoiceOver off, double-tap with that one finger, then toggle VoiceOver back on again. You'll be in an edit field which is the file name. Type the new name, then tap Done.
