Re: How do I make sure my iPhone 5 is recording the highest quality video

2015-01-13 Thread Victor Hugo Gallegos
Hello, go to your iPhone settings, then photo, and camera, then you can change
video quality recording.
Keep swiping until you find the video quality setting, there are other settings
for photo stream, and cloud settings there too.

Hello, I have my own ring tones, that I created, and recently, I've been able

I am running Yosemite on the Mac, and the latest version of iTunes, I don't

Hi, I was recently told by a person at Apple Accessibility that Apple was no
longer going to support ringTones that were not purchased from the app store.
If this is true, then the question becomes, what does it mean. Does it mean
that they will simply not help you work out how to do this? Or, does it mean
that eventually one will not be able to actually get unpaid ringTones onto
the phone? I have not tried this in iOS 8 on the iPhone 6, but I wonder if
 anyone has done so?

Didn’t find the ring tone on my new phone when restored things from a backup.
Also how do you show the contacts folder on the home screen as haven’t

Hi, make sure that the auto brightness is off.
Go into settings, and swipe right until you get to display, and brightness.
Double tap on this option, and swipe to the slide, you can adjusted to what you
want it to be, swipe to the right, and make sure that auto brightness is off.
You will also be able to change the brightness anytime you want from the

Below are instructions I wrote for creating an Apple ID without a credit
card, but it will also work if you want to choose a credit card instead of
 selecting none.
You do this on your Apple Device.
Creating an account on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Open the App Store on your device.
Find a free application on the App Store.
Important: Before proceeding to the next step, you must download and install
the free application by tapping Free followed by tapping Install App.

 Tap Create New Apple ID.

Choose your country, and then tap Done.

You'll need to read and agree to the iTunes Store Terms Conditions. Tap
Agree located at the bottom of the page to continue.
Enter your email address, security questions, birthday, and create your
 password.
You also can enter an optional rescue email address. If you frequently change
email addresses, it is recommended that you add a rescue email address. Learn
more about the rescue email address.
Once you are satisfied with the information entered, tap Next.
Select None as your payment option.

Continue to fill out the required email, address, and phone number fields.
 Tap Next.
You'll then see a screen that says Verify your Account. Tap Done, and check
your email for a verification email from iTunes Store.

Open the email, and click the link enclosed in the email to activate your
 account.
Once you tap the link, the App Store should automatically open and prompt you
to sign in with your account name and password.

Tap Sign In, and you will see a thank you screen.

You have set up your account successfully, and you can start enjoying iTunes,
iBooks, and the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod
 touch.

Re: Fleksy keyboard system wide on Jailbroken devices. Is it possible?

2014-03-05 Thread Victor Hugo Gallegos
Hi Mike, I don't have any programming experience, but there is a jailbreak
tweak that allows exactly that for a lot of native apps, and third-party apps.
The problem is that it uses the regular Fleksy app, and not Fleksy VO, so
therefore it doesn't work very well for visually impaired users.

I have used it on a windows PC, but it also supports Mac, here is the link,

Hello, you need to allow the high-quality voice to download, the way it worked
for me, is by plugging in the phone to the AC adapter, and also keep the
phone connected to Wi-Fi.
The high-quality voice started up while I was still setting up stuff on the

Hi guys. I got my new iPhone 5s 32 GB gold model today. I am not sure if I

over and SIRI it is robotic where the iPhone 5 quality sounds like a real
person. The voice over and over all volume seems to be quieter also.
Definitely not as crisp and as clear as the iPhone 5. Has anyone else
experienced this or is this just normal for the new 5s? It took me so long to
get this phone that it's probably going to be another month to get a
replacement. Anyone have any thoughts or observations on this? Anything would
 be appreciated. Thanks.

submitted a corrupted cover art image with the app and the Apple servers are
 not happy about it.

So, should you, like apparently thousands of people around the world,
attempt to update your current version of the Facebook app and get an update
error message, just close the Dialog box containing the error message and
then cancel the download. This will allow you to continue to use your
currently installed version of the app.

Are you using touch typing or standard typing?
Also, when you turned Password on and entered your password initially (you
had to repeat to confirm) did you turn on the feature to wipe your phone
after 10 failed attempts? If so then of course you need to be careful, if
you are sure you didn't turn this on you can just keep on trying.
If you forgot the password I am afraid you have to restore your phone using

Re: where will you purchase the iPhone 5s

2013-09-16 Thread Victor Hugo Gallegos
Hello!
I am buying the 5S, I am trying to avoid the long lines, so I'm thinking if I
go to an ATT store, instead of an Apple Store maybe it will work.
By the way, this is the first time I will try to get my hands on the iPhone the
day comes out too, I have waited and lines before at the Apple store when the
iPhone 4 came out, and it was two months After it had been released.

Hi all. Just curious about what different people will do when it comes time
to purchasing the iPhone 5s. Oh, and before I go on, just a point to note,
the s in the name 5s is lower-case because if it's a capital S it looks too
much like the number 5 visually, so Apple made it a small s on purpose. So,
the correct way of writing it is iPhone 5s. Anyway, since you cannot
pre-order the 5s, will you go to your local phone carrier store, or to the
Apple store? I'm just curious as to whether people will go this Friday and
wait long lines like Black Friday in the US, or if they will wait a few days
 until the lines get less.

I'm pretty excited myself because this will be my first time getting a new
phone the day it comes out. In the past I've gotten it when it was an
afterthought, or in the case of the 4s, when it had been out for about 4
months already. usually I wait in case there are initial problems found with
the first batch of hardware, but this time around I'm diving in with my eyes
 closed as the saying goes.

Although all members are welcome to respond, I'm hoping that only people who
are getting the 5s will respond to this thread since I'm not asking about
whether it's a good idea, or if the 4s is better, or if we should stay with
what we have. This is because there are other viphone threads which have
 already covered this.

 Cheers.

Re: TV Guide App

2013-07-16 Thread Victor Hugo Gallegos
Hi!
I see what you mean, I just tried jumping to a channel. I typed in channel 56,
which is the history channel, and Voice over started reading me results for
channel 58, I think voice over is reading the last item that's on the screen,
when it jumps to a channel other channels are still listed there.
I recommend, when you jump to a channel, after voiceover read the results, run
your finger on the left side of the screen from the top going towards the
bottom until you find the channel number that you actually wanted.
Another thing you can do is, if you know the name of the network you want, you
can change to search for networks, instead of going to a channel, for example I
searched for the history channel network which is HISTW, and it gave me two
different channels for the history channel.
Here is how to change the date, and time, after you double tap on change date
and time, touch the bottom of the screen going from left to right.
On the bottom left you will hear today, that's to change the date, slick right,
you got that hour, click write again, and you got minutes, flick right one more
time, and you got a.m., or p.m. These fields will read is picker item, so you
flick up to change them, and you have to find the go button, so after you
changed p.m., or AM, move your finger from the bottom right of the screen
towards the top and you will find the go button, double tap, then you will
get results.

Now, whenever you want to read something in Spanish, just use the rotor

Re: Zello

2013-04-11 Thread Victor Hugo Gallegos
If you are using the latest version of Zello, double tap on the navigation menu
button on the upper left, Touch the center of the screen, then you can start
flicking to the right until you get to settings, then double tap on settings,
then flick until you find headset/remote control, and toggle it on. When
you're finished adjusting your settings, you can double tap on the done button
on the upper left. Again on this menu, you can touch the center of the screen,
and move left or right, depending if you want to go to your contacts, channels,
accounts, change your status, settings, and other options.

Re: Recording Audio While Out

Hello, I have never used GarageBand to record, I usually use the voice memo
app that comes with iOS, you can even lock the screen while recording, the only
thing that can interrupt the recording is if a call comes in. I usually put my
phone on airplane mode, so that the calls won't interrupt my recording.

Will Garage Band do this, or is there a better free aternative?

Re: Perplexing problem with Siri on Jailbroken iPhone 5

2013-02-23 Thread Victor Hugo Gallegos
Hello, sounds to me like you have a tweet that is causing this problem, I am
Joe broken on iOS 6.1.2, and I can tell Siri to launch apps with no problem.

 Good evening List:

As the subject says, I’m having an issue on my jailbroken iPhone 5 now
running iOS 6.1.2. The problem started a couple of days ago when I was still
running 6.1.1, I noticed that siri was not opening apps when I would tell it
to. She just kept saying “I don’t see you have an app named facebook” for
example, when I do. No matter what app I would try to launch, it wouldn’t
happen. Anyway, I went to iTunes 11 to do a restore, and it was going to
upgrade the iOS, which is fine since I saw there was an update to the jb.
Everything went fine this morning, but when I went to work, the problem
started again. I first thought it had something to do with LTE vs. WiFi, so
I didn’t worry about it until I got home. Now I’ve turned siri off,
restarted the phone, and turned it back on with no success. Any ideas on
what is causing this odd behavior? It was working fine as late as Wednesday
on the old configuration, and the only thing I changed in the jb since then
was adding software update killer and reset all killer. Any help would be
appreciated. I would restore it again, but I’m afraid I’d have the same
problem once I’m away from home. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

dumbasses aren't all that dumb after all and maybe Kevin has already
solved whatever issue he had by removing and reinstalling the app, at
least I hope so. I hope all other 1273 list members (not counting you

And for all those who wonder if they should upgrade to the latest
Skype update, it seems you can safely do so, if you are worried you
may experience the same issue as Kevin just update from your phone so
at least you can delete the app if there is a problem and sync with
the previous version in your iTunes library. I have copied this latest
version to a Backup folder so in case something ever happens and
accessibility truly does get damaged at least I have a version I can
use and for certain apps which are important I think keeping copies of
versions where accessibility works well is always a good idea.

Previously I went looking for a good media manager, and several of them
claimed to support the iPod. I didn't have an iPhone at the time, so I
didn't care about that particular feature. You don't say what OS or screen
reader you're using, so I'll assume you're talking about Windows.

Winamp and FooBar are both accessible and have iPod support either built in
or as a plug in. A page with links to more information is at
 http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/29716/heres-five-alternatives-to-itunes-10-fo
 r-easily-managing-your-ipod/

Media Monkey and Songbird also claim to support the iPod, and I had some
success with them with respect to accessibility, although at the time, I
wouldn't call either of them accessible. Songbird has been changing rapidly,
so it might be worth taking a look at again.

A more comprehensive list of iTunes alternatives, some of which may be
 accessible, can be found at
 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_iPod_managers

On Linux, I see that RhythmBox, Banshee, Clementine and Amarok all have some
level of iPod support, and I know RhythmBox is accessible.

I haven't heard any of these alternatives discussed on list yet though, so
if you give any of them a try, I'd be curious to know how you get a long. I
suppose I may try RhythmBox at some point, but I'm pretty much trying to
rely on the cloud for now.

Another option is to use the cloud. I use Ubuntu One for example, which has
a Ubuntu, Windows, IOS and Android client. I don't think there's a Mac
client though, at least not yet.

Re: VO hq/compact

2012-05-18 Thread Victor Hugo Gallegos
Hi!
This option is still available in the latest iOS version, it's under
settings/general/accessibility/VoiceOver, it's between use pitch change, and
the Braille button, the option is called use compact voice, you can toggle
on/off.

Before upgrading to 5.11 I recal seeing in the VO settings a button that
allowed you to toggle to compact voices. I no longer see that option.

Re: random occurence?????

2012-05-13 Thread Victor Hugo Gallegos
When opening Zella, and you aren't wearing headphones the sound routes to the
ear piece, to get the sound routed back to the main speaker double tap on any
channel, then double tap on options, the first button is turn on speaker, that
will fix it.
Whenever you're done using zella take it off the app switcher, so that it won't
control your audio settings.

Afew minutes ago I attempted to make use of the app, Zello. Things went well
until I exited the app. Voice-over was severely diminished, even when I shut
down my Iphone 4 and turned it back on. I checked the sound level and was
told it was at 100%. I then attempted to load another sound-using app, Atbat
2012 and this seemed to have negated the problem, so for those of you using
 Zello, be aware.
