RE: What is with Audible?

No telephone support right now, having poor cell phone quality and my landline
is horrible, hopefully something will be fixed today, tired of hearing static,
or having dropped calls which I never had before the move.

Subject: RE: What is with Audible?

I have no idea whether any of the below comments will affect the issue Rose is
having with Audible but since we're talking about Audible, I have some comments
about it.

1. I'm not having any problems with getting books purchased from Audible and
added to my library presented appropriately in the Audible version 2.13 app on
my iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3.3 and they download to my device without issue.
2. I did note a couple of issues accessing the Audible website with Safari on
my iPhone. The search button in the upper right of the screen is unlabeled and
double tapping on it when it has focus with VoiceOver active does nothing. When
VoiceOver is turned off, pressing this button causes a text box to drop down
where you can enter your search text. I reported this to Audible Tech Support
today.
3. The last time I tried purchasing Audible books on my computer running
Windows 7 and Firefox, the button which is labeled either next or continue and
must be executed to advance after you add books to your shopping cart was not
displayed or announced by ZoomText with Firefox. I had to use IE 11 to complete
my purchase. I've also reported this to Audible.
4. Audible telephone support has always been good in my experience and they can
be reached at (888) 283-5051.
5. Be aware that at one point in time, you could access your Audible account
with either a separate Audible ID or your Amazon ID. I'm not sure if that is
still the case because at some point, I got the feeling I would be better off
using my Amazon ID to manage my Audible content and switched to it. Make sure
you are being consistent and using the appropriate ID for your purchases and
your Audible app.

Hopefully, Rose will get some help from Audible telephone support to resolve
her issue.

Thank you, I generally buy on the computer and they show up in the app to be
downloaded but these two books are not, wondering if it is because I forgot to
change my credit card number with Audible and was not aware of it until two
months passed.
I can buy, just can't get them to show up so I can actually download them so
far, however, have not spent a lot of time of the issue since I just moved and
have been organizing a new house, getting things fixed that need it, buying
furniture ...
It is at night when no family is here that I seem to have some time to read,
not a lot of course. Have a ton of NLS books but ... after a childhood and
many adult years without ready access to more than a book or two at a time, I
now tend to read two to three at a time, depending on which equipment, which
subject and where I am when I have time to read. I know, I know, but being
able to store 200 books on a 32 GB card on the Stream, more than 50 on my
iPhone and about 20 on my old iPad ... it is so much better than waiting for
the library to send you something, or series out of order.

Hi Rose,

I apologize if I am trying to figure out what is happening. Are you
downloading the book from the Audible site from your computer?

I know that in the past, I used to download them using the Audible Download
Manager, which once I began the download on the site, the download manager
would download the files and import into iTunes, at which point I would connect
my iPhone and sync to the phone.

I have long stopped this procedure as it got too complicated. So in an effort
to simplify things, I now just go to the site, whether on my iPhone, iPad or
even on my Windows machine, and buy them from there, but not download them.

I then launch my Audible app on either my iPhone or iPad and refresh my
library, at which point the new books appear and I can easily download them
onto my device. I found this process much simpler and easier then having to
download to my computer and sync afterwards.

I am not sure if this is the same or if perhaps you have a Mac and Audible has

I know that using the method I use to sync books to my Audible app, I've rarely

I agree with these recent messages. Rose, if you can't figure out what is
causing the books you purchased not to be available, I suggest calling the
usually very helpful toll-free tech support and having them help you get to the
bottom of things. You should be able to do all of this in the iPhone app, never

I agree! This used to be so simple! Now, I usually end up using the JAWS
cursor to download the books. If you read the entire screen, it will say
something like "Download". I had to use the jaws cursor to hover the pointer
over this and hope the menu opened up under it, press the down arrow, and hit
enter. Very hard to download now! I did notice that it was easier in internet
explorer than it was in mozilla firefox, though - if that helps any.

E-mail me offline if you need to talk further or more in depth.

sorry not too helpful at this point, going off of memory.

No, you can't purchase through the app. You have to go to the audible

That is a good point about the Amazon ID. That changed sometime ago, and there
was a point again sometime ago, where I was no longer able to use my old
audible ID and had to change to my current Amazon ID. Hopefully, if this change
happened only when roses subscription was discontinued and then resumed, her
new ID which is the Amazon one was linked to the old audible ID. Your
experience with searching on the audible site on your iPhone is interesting. I
have not noticed that. I have a link to the audible mobile site on my home
screen. When I use that, I can always access the edit box, type what I want and
then search.

RE: What is with Audible?

2016-07-26 Thread Alan Lemly

I am not sure if this is the same or if perhaps you have a Mac and Audible has
a Mac App, not sure as I don't have a Mac, yet!

I know that using the method I use to sync books to my Audible app, I've rarely
had an book not sync. I think in the past three years, since I began doing all
through the iDevice, I've only had two books not appear in my list. For those
two books, it was just that their system, although it had noticed that I
purchased those books, something went wrong when it tried to sync and behaved
as if I hadn't bought them. At that time, I just called Audible themselves and
they corrected the issue, and I tried once more and the app was able to see the
books

I agree with these recent messages. Rose, if you can't figure out what is
causing the books you purchased not to be available, I suggest calling the
usually very helpful toll-free tech support and having them help you get to the
bottom of things. You should be able to do all of this in the iPhone app, never
mind the computer.

explorer than it was in mozilla firefox, though - if that helps any.

E-mail me offline if you need to talk further or more in depth.

sorry not too helpful at this point, going off of memory.

RE: What is with Audible?

2016-07-25 Thread Jerry White

Yes, I recently purchased some books which I hadn't downloaded yet and when I
read the message that you can't download I tried it just now and it's
downloading a book normally as we speak.

RE: What is with Audible?

Yes it sucks and the company is aware of the problem.
You have to let a tech guy with audible take over your computer remotely to get
anything downloaded until it is fixed.
