Re: deleting a app?

2018-09-06 Thread Tom Lange
Hi,
Very simple. Here’s what you do:
1. Locate the app in the usual way.
2. Do a single-finger flick down. VoiceOver should say “edit”.

3. Double-tap and VO should then say “started editing”.

4. Flick down again and you should then hear VO say “delete”.
5. Double-tap. A confirmation dialog will pop up.
6. Flick over to the delete button, double-tap and it’s done.

Alternatively, find the app and do a single-finger double-tap-and-hold; don’t
lift your finger until VO says “started editing”. Flick down until VO says
”delete”, then double-tap. You’ll get a confirmation dialog. Flick over to the
delete button, double-tap and you’re done.

RE: deleting an app

2018-08-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Reggie,

Not sure what you mean by "go in the cloud", all apps are in the cloud so to
speak since they are all in the app store and your Apple Id remembers all apps
which have ever been installed on your phone.
You can check this by opening the App Store app, go to the "Updates" tab and
then at the top find the "My Account" button. Find the "Purchased" button and
then the "My purchases".
After you tap on this you see all apps you ever purchased, by default the "All"
filter is selected, but you can also select "Not on this iPhone" and now you
only see apps which you purcased or downloaded at some point but which are
currently not installed on your phone.
If you delete an app from your phone it is gone from your phone completely, but
I don't think it will delete automatically from say your iPad if you have one.
Whether it will automatically download to your iPad depends on whether you
select that option in Settings > iTunes and App Store, but if it is selected it
will automatically download to your iPad at the time you download it to your
iPhone not when you delete it.

Regards,
Sieghard

When an app is deleted does it actually delete or just go into the cloud? If
the app goes into the cloud, will it download on another device?

RE: deleting an app with the iPhone 8

2017-10-30 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You don’t have to turn off 3D Touch unless you really never use it. If you get
the dismiss shortcut menu you tap too hard, just to it more gently, especially
the second tap where you hold should be just touching the screen, don’t press
at all. Alternatively if you do tend to tap hard just to to 3D Touch in the
Accessibility menu and adjust the sensitivity.
Also, in iOS 11.1 which should be released to the public probably in the next
couple of weeks the “Edit” option is back when you swipe up or down on an app
so there is no longer the need to double tap and hold.

Sieghard

could open the partially downloaded blindsquare app by myself on the iphone
and everything is back ok now with my iphone 5s.

I know of someone with a similar situation, where when they went to
update an app through the App Store, the home screen said waiting on
the app's name. They ended up having to do a reset on their device by
holding the home and power buttons for 10 to 15 seconds. This will not
erase any data, apps or settings. If that doesn't work, you might
consider doing a restore from iTunes or reset from General settings.
Make sure you have a backup in iTunes or iCloud before restoring your
device.

Good luck,
Wayne

 Hello, everyone.

I am using an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.1.3, and I'm having trouble deleting any
app on the last row of the second page of apps. I'm referring to the row of
apps just above the page indicator and the dock. If I double-tap and hold
any app's name, I do not enter screen editing mode; thus, I cannot delete the
 app in the conventional way.
Deleting apps in other rows work just fine. Of course, once I have entered
screen editing mode by double-tapping and holding any app icon not in the
errant row, I can delete apps in the last row as well. Can anyone confirm
this behavior? Very odd, I know. grin

 Thank you.

Re: Deleting an App.

2014-12-30 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm pretty sure this hasn't changed in IOS in quite some time. Double
tap and hold on any app in the appropriate home screen or folder. Once
you hear the tones and the message that you're moving the app you double
tapped and held on, lift your finger and double tap on the app you want
to delete. Confirm the deletion and your done. Hit the home button to
get out of the mode where you're editing your home screen or folder.

There are in fact three tones in very quick succession, to denote that an
app has moved, if you double tap and then hold long enough on an app. Other
than that, there is the ability to remove an app through the manage storage
option in the Settings, General, Usage tab.

2014-12-30 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Christopher and Liz,

Your explanation, Christopher, is correct. However, you forgot to mention that
in iOS 8 quite often you can't move or delete apps in the last row above the
dock. If you double tap and hold on one of these apps and nothing happens, you
can double tap and hold another app further up on the screen. If all you want
to do is delete the app in the last row, then once you are in editing/moving
mode, you can double tap on the app in the last row which you want to delete
and it will prompt you to confirm. You can, however, still not move these apps
if double tap and hold doesn't result in starting editing mode.

Regards,
Sieghard

I'm pretty sure this hasn't changed in IOS in quite some time. Double
tap and hold on any app in the appropriate home screen or folder. Once
you hear the tones and the message that you're moving the app you double
tapped and held on, lift your finger and double tap on the app you want
to delete. Confirm the deletion and your done. Hit the home button to
get out of the mode where you're editing your home screen or folder.

Double-tap and hold the app on your screen. In other words, tap twice
quickly, but on the second tap, keep your finger there. After you hear the
distinctive tone, vO will say: moving and the name of the app. Simply lift
your finger at this point. Now you're in edit mode. Find the app again and
double-tap it. you'll get a confirmation dialog asking if you want to

Game Center is part of iOS. You cannot remove apps that is part of iOS.
You could instead move it to the dock or on a different page of the home

Hello. You cannot rename an app. Also if you rename an app it would still be
the original app so it doesn't make sense to rename it. The best you can do as
others have suggested his move it to a folder where it contains other apps that
you do not use. My daughter has a folder on her iPhone called boring apps.
Looking inside this folder it contains things like stocks iTunes compass etc.
In terms of renaming, you can always use a two finger double tap and hold to
reach the label section and give it a specific name. Note that this isn't truly
renaming it though.

Some sites say you can and some say you can’t. I quit trying and just
created a never use folder and moved the Stock app and the Newstand app
into that folder and then moved it to a page that I don’t access so it is
out of my way.

I want to delete the stocks from my IPhone, however it's not letting me

Re: deleting stocks app from the IPhone?

2013-03-09 Thread Tom Lange
Hi Troy,
That's correct; you can't get rid of it. Your best bet is to move it to a
screen that's little-used, or stash it in a folder with other apps that you
don't want.

Re: deleting stocks app from the IPhone?

2013-03-09 Thread Nimit Kaur
I don't think you can delete any of the built in apps?, I think I
think you can only move it, however, as MamaPeach said, just creat a
never use or junk or trash folder and make a separate page and never
access it!!! Haha! So, yeah, I don't think you can delete the apps
built by apple.

Re: Deleting an App from the App Store

2012-10-13 Thread gabey8
I kept getting an error like that yesterday.

I didn't find a way to get rid of that app from my update list. However, the
good news is, TODAY, when I went to update apps on my list, the update for that
app downloaded with no problem. So my thought is to give the App Store glitch a
few hours to straighten itself out, and try again.

Just in case my message didn't go through, here is my problem.

I was updating my apps using IOS6, and one of the updates is not available any
more in the app store. How do I delete it from the update list?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
