Yes, I meant turning the phone off completely and then turn it back on after 20

Have you rebooted your phone. I still experience the opposite at times, I have
it set to lock after 1 minute and found that in previous versions of iOS, e.g.
14, 13, it would sometimes not lock and I am pretty sure it is still doing that
in iOS 15 as well. I can fix this by rebooting the phone.

Also, I checked, and my screen lock is still set for never, yet, now, it is
locking on its own.

I am beginning to think that 15 is a great big mess!

Well we certainly appreciate the straight forward instructions. We will see
what sounds we miss over the next few days and evaluate from there!

Thanks again to all.

verbalize whether or not the screen was locked. It didn't matter to me because
when I do have the Sounds turned on, I'd rather hear that tone than the voice
telling me that the screen was locked. Anyway, to each his own, I guess.

Re: Screen Locked

2017-09-08 Thread Nicola Sanders
Hi,

I think this just goes to show how we're all creatures of habit. I often have
to work in a virtually silent environment and so I use my iPhone with a Braille
display. I found it a hassle to remember to turn sounds on and off each time in
addition to turning the speech off, and so I just stopped turning the sounds
back on after a while. I've got very used to not having them and now I've
basically forgotten what I'm supposed to need them for. I think Sieghard is
right, Apple should provide more flexibility and allow people to choose whether
they have a "screen locked" message or a sound, regardless of other settings. I
like my "screen locked" message, mainly because it's what I'm used to.

Best

Nicky

RE: Screen Locked

2017-09-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Kind of a choice between a rock and a hard place, I certainly would not want to
have no sound effects at all just to hear “screen locked”.
It will be interesting to see if Apple gives users more control over this in
iOS 11, either take the “screen locked” message away completely and replace it
with a more unique sound or let people decide if they want to hear the message
but not at the expense of loosing all other sounds.
In a way this is a trivial thing and I wonder who the heck at Apple has nothing
better to do than to come up with these things which of course also take time
to implement where they could spend that time fixing more important issues.

Regards,
Sieghard

Listening or watching programmes on BBC iplayer with screen locked

2014-07-20 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Dear Listers,

I was listening/watching a programmes on BBC iplayer today and as soon as I
locked my ipad, the programme stopped playing. When I unlocked the ipad, th
the programme would resume playing. Is there a way / a setting that I could
tweak to continue listening to a programme while the ipad is locked? I've been
through the settings and I've failed to find anything that would enable this to
ahppen. With tune-in radio, I can lock the screen and the radio will continue
to play. But I don't seem to be able to achieve the same thing with BBC
iplayer.

2014-07-20 Thread Brent Harding
All programs that have video do it. The weird thing I get with the Time
Warner one is that when I plug the phone into my speaker dock, it tells me
that the device and program don't support HDMI, but an audio only speaker
dock wouldn't have HDMI to begin with. Maybe there's a plug on the back I
don't know about that I need one of those dummy adapters for they use on mac
minis when they run them as servers.

Re: Random and Unexplained Screen Locked

2013-11-27 Thread Shermeen Khan
Hi there,

I know I'm responding to a somewhat dated thread, but I'm continuing
to experience this problem, despite updating my phone every time a new
release was available. Do we know if there is a solution yet? Or are
we all still harassing apple about it? LOL.

It is not only pressing buttons which will trigger this. I've been
experiencing this since updating to IOS7. Last night I was watching the
screen and within 3 minutes Siri said screen locked 4 times and the
 screen
never came on, flashed, or anything. It even said it a couple of times
after I plugged the phone in and when I was going to sleep. I remember
hearing screen locked 2 times, but then I went off to sleep so I can't
tell you if it continued. I sure hope Apple corrects this, and very soon!

 Hi,

It only happens when playing audio content when you change the volume. For
some reason, Voiceover thinks the screen is unlocked when you do this so,
after a minute or so, it will say screen locked.

RE: Random and Unexplained Screen Locked

2013-10-02 Thread Louise Redsull
Hi,
I've had this happen to me too and when the phone has been nowhere near me
so I know I haven't caught the lock button. I look and there's no
notifications either.

Louise.

Mine happens when I am working, doing nothing with music audible of any kind
and not touching any buttons. It just will occasionally say screen locked
and I have not been playing any audio on the phone since the last time I
turned it on, which generally is every morning.

Hi,

It only happens when playing audio content when you change the volume. For
some reason, Voiceover thinks the screen is unlocked when you do this so,
after a minute or so, it will say screen locked.

RE: Random and Unexplained Screen Locked

2013-10-02 Thread DJ
It is not only pressing buttons which will trigger this. I've been
experiencing this since updating to IOS7. Last night I was watching the
screen and within 3 minutes Siri said screen locked 4 times and the screen
never came on, flashed, or anything. It even said it a couple of times
after I plugged the phone in and when I was going to sleep. I remember
hearing screen locked 2 times, but then I went off to sleep so I can't
tell you if it continued. I sure hope Apple corrects this, and very soon!

Is it announcing Screen Lock without actually locking the screen? I don't know

RE: Random and Unexplained Screen Locked

2013-10-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi dJ,

Have you reported this to Apple Accessibility? They can only fix things they
are made aware of. I think this sounds like one of these bugs which only
some people experience. On my 4S I do get the screen locked if I change
the volume, but not ever otherwise. I think it's even more important for
Apple to get lots of emails from those people who experience this including
which model of phone they are using.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi,

It only happens when playing audio content when you change the volume. For
some reason, Voiceover thinks the screen is unlocked when you do this so, after
a minute or so, it will say screen locked.
