Re: Iphone SE Question

2017-03-26 Thread Gordon
I don't think the SE is part of the red program. This applies to the 7
and 7plus. The SE did get a memory upgrade when I added one to my cart
on apple.com. So the 32 gig SE is $399 and the 128 gig SE is $499. They
got rid of the 16 gig and 64 gig versions. Everything else remains the
same with the SE. So those buying one now get a better deal than when it
came out back in March of last year.

With regard to the headphone equipment, if you buy the Mophie case, that
equipment won't work. The plug at the end of the lightening adapters is not
the same as connection for Mophie.

I just bought an iPhone 7plus and like it much better than I thought that I
would. I didn't think that I would find the two speakers that great, but it
does add to the listening with the phone.

RE: Iphone SE Question

2017-03-25 Thread Richard Turner
I was mislead by an article that I thought was reliable.
But, you are right.
At least, online, Apple does not show a Red SE as an option.
I can’t remember the author’s last name, but his first name is Andrew.
I think he confused things by talking about the SE along with the Red option
without being clear that was the iPhone 7’s only.

Yes, the SE has the first generation Touch Id sensor, same as the iPhone 5S and
6/6 Plus. It works well, but it is not quite as reliable and fast as the Touch
Id sensor in the 6S/6S Plus or 7/7 Plus.

No, they added a RED version of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

The SE now has 32 GB of RAM or 128 GB instead of 16 or 64. That's the only
change.

No, they added a RED version of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

The SE now has 32 GB of RAM or 128 GB instead of 16 or 64. That's the only
change.

The iPhone 7, 7+, and I will assume eight when it comes out, don't have
headphone jacks. They do however send with the phone a piece that can plug into
the phone that has a spot for your phone to play bet it is for us Moss, so be
careful that you don't lose it. I have an iPhone 7 Plus, and love it.

Re: IPhone SE question

2016-09-19 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Yes, there needs to be some separation of your fingers. The touch screen
needs to know that you're using multiple fingers instead of one fat
finger. Practice is key. You probably want to start by using some pretty
exaggerated gestures, and once they start working, see what you can get
away with. The roter gesture is a good example of this. I started with a
pretty exaggerated gesture where I had two fingers strangling a virtual
knob on the screen, and now it's just a quick twist with two fingers
barely touching the screen.

Do you separate your fingers a bit on all 2 and 3 finger taps; with

Hi Nancy,

Congratulation on getting your first touch phone. I am sure you will
get the hang of it. It just takes time, patience and practice.

As for hanging up a call, I to had some difficulties hanging up the
call. Try waiting a couple of seconds once you pull the phone away
from your ear and perform the two finger double tap gesture a little
slower, if you find your speed is not getting you results.

I found that if I waited a couple of seconds and perform the gesture
slower, I had better results in hanging up my calls.

It left the store wrapped up in an Otterbox Defender case and a

At this point, I am just trying to learn how to make and answer calls.
My finger is dancing all over the screen. If I had a adhesive Braille
Dot put on the screen so I would know where to tap, would that work?
Or would it cause Siri and VO anguish having a dot on the screen all

Thank you so much.

This raises an important caveat: if you take the phone from your ear to use
the double tap, wait long enough to be sure it is in
speaker mode and you can hear it talking, before you do the 2finger double tap.
I had a rash of failures trying to do it too soon.

Re: IPhone SE question

2016-09-19 Thread susan

Nancy,
I agree with all that's been said. I'd encourage you to get the Speeddots
screen overlay for your phone if you haven't already done so. I have one on
my Iphone but not my ipod Touch and find that the dots are especially
helpful for those times when text input is desirable/necessary. Once I had
them I became much more confident and adventurous, lol. Also, keep in mind
that you can adjust the typing mode. At first I used standard typing which
uses the double tap gesture for keypress confirmation, but got into touch
typing surprisingly quickly. With touch typing no text is entered until you
lift your finger from the screen so you don't have to worry that just moving
around will cause mistakes. There are good resources online and in hardcopy
for beginners and listers are happy to answer the questions we all had at
one time or another, so feel free to ask if you need help. As others have
said, your own practice and exploration is the best way to learn. Hope this
helps.

Susan

My finger is dancing all over the screen. If I had a adhesive Braille

1 caveat: I agree not to go sticking just any self-adhesive marker on the

They are a proven product in this respect. I also agree that getting used to

Hello Nancy,

This is a matter of personal opinion, of course, but I strongly suggest that
you not place any tactile markings on the display.

Just give yourself time to acclimate to the new interface.

Thinking back, I believe it took me over two weeks in order to begin to start
feeling comfortable with the iPhone interface.

Be patient with yourself and do not measure your progress against that of
anyone.

Just don't give up and don't give in and, in time, it will get easier. To

Re: IPhone SE question

2016-09-18 Thread Christopher Chaltain
A few tips that might help you get started are to use a two finger flick
up. This will start reading from the top of the screen. Once VoiceOver
starts reading you can flick left or right with one finger to move from
object to object on the screen. You can also explore the screen by just
moving your finger around on the screen. There will be some apps where
you'll just start to recognize that certain buttons always appear in the
same place, so you'll be able to find them easier in the future. Another
thing which threw me for a long time, is that once VoiceOver announces
an object, you can double tap anywhere on the screen to activate it. You
don't have to double tap right on the icon itself.

Subject: IPhone SE question

I just got my first cell phone without buttons...the IPhone SE.

It left the store wrapped up in an Otterbox Defender case and a tempered glass
screen protector.

At this point, I am just trying to learn how to make and answer calls.
My finger is dancing all over the screen. If I had a adhesive Braille Dot put
on the screen so I would know where to tap, would that work? Or would it cause
Siri and VO anguish having a dot on the screen all the time?I just have no idea
how sensitive the screen is.

Thank you so much.
Nancy
