Please email accessibil...@apple.com with a message saying you are having this
issue, and all the detail about your device and keyboard you can think of. In
the meantime, some users report success turning VoiceOver off, typing, then
turning it back on. I realize that's not a good solution, but
Hi Ruby,
I wouldn't expect this to be fixed in the first update to iOS 9 since it made
it through 5 beta versions into the Goldmaster and the public release. I
haven't checked if you can downgrade, but as I said before, somebody like you
who it seems relies a lot on their Bluetooth keyboard
Apple really seem to screw up rather fantastically whem it comes to phone,
Bluetooth keyboard, and Braille display bugs with each iOS update. This is
getting really old. Granted, the list of issues is much smaller than it was for
the release of iOS 8, but still.
Thanks,
Ari

I haven't really followed the discussion on this Bluetooth keyboard thing,
because I almost never use a Bluetooth keyboard with my iPhone. But I have a
friend who does, and he has not upgraded his phone. However he did upgrade his
iPad mini, where he sometimes uses his keyboard. And it works
Hi Chris,
I decided to update my 4S, knowing the pitfalls, because I wanted to get in on
the "bugs" and try to force some kind of immediate, total effort on the
Accessability Team to fix these keyboard issues, and any others I find!
My Apple keyboard is behaving like yours, just not writing in
yep i can do that for short texts.

Hi Alex
I'm not going to say whether you should advise people to upgrade or not.
However, the bluetooth keyboard bug is quite significant to those it happens
to, as it just won't speak or let you type text when you're in any sort of text
edit field. It just freezes and VO stops talking. The
well, in Mail, Messages, FB Messenger, etc. I simply cannot type into
edit fields with my Logitech Keys-to-Go bluetooth keyboard. I'm not
sure what else I can add other than this particular bug affects me. I'm
using a 6+ purchased in December.

I run a private email list for registered developers who test iOS, and it was
quite common there. It was also reported extensively. It does trouble me that
issues so critical were extensively reported, but not addressed before release.
But this is the third year things like this have happened
For me, the issue is present some, but not all of the time. Once it happens,
only a reboot seems to give you a chance of getting it back. Toggling VO,
Bluetooth, anything else doesn't seem to help.

I think it's so bad because I for one reported keyboard issues in IOS8 a number
of times, which went largely unsolved, apart from being able to take out
Voice-Over and all would be OK when you restarted it.
I had particular problems using Apple's own keyboarde too!

Hi Eleanor,
It should be possible to downgrade to iOS 8.4.1 at this point, but chances are
this may only work for a few more days. I don’t want this to be an “I told you
so” message, but your situation is exactly why I had sent my warning message
the night before iOS 9 was to be released
Hi.
Well I've had trouble using both an Apple keyboard and a Logitech keyboard.
They need to fix it ASAP, as at the moment it's useless for people like me who
are totally blind. Yes, I could try to type with VO turned off, but I'd always
be very nervous as I wouldn't know what I was typing,
