I have a similar device - I'm sorry but I have not tested it yet nor do I have
it with me as it is packed in storage but I do recall instructions mentioned
that that the device had to be selected in Audacity as well for it to work.
It may have been under Audacity Preferences
Regardless of what you choose, I'd still suggest checking these discs every few
years, and perhaps burning new copies as you do.

It could be new software run but it could be a faulty fan - I've had a couple
of fans replaced in my MacBook Pro - basically the heat sensor didn't know how

Boot from your install DVD and see if a repair via Disk Utility will
help - sounds like a kernel panic.
You may need to backup your data and try a complete reinstall - if the
problem reoccurs, you may have a hardware fault.

did that with a WD drive from one of these units and it blew the
enclosure power supply - and smoke came out of the molex adaptor. It
