Hi Carlo other WAMUGERS.
If the meetings were not held so far from where I live, I can assure you I
would be a regular attendee.
To come home from a long day at work, have dinner, then trek from Jane Brook to
Murdoch is not my idea of fun !
Anyway that's just my situation !

Hi Apple using Muggers
I don't attend the meetings but I pay my dues and follow the posts.
In my humble opinion (and I don't have many of those) we elect a committee and
they put in a lot of their time and effort on our behalf, so I accept their
judgement and decisions.
Hi
I support the Committee in all of it's decisions (again)

Carlo, what happened was that those of us that felt neutral about the name
change kept quiet, but your explanation has helped me with making up my mind. I
do support the name change. It seems that at present it's not worthwhile to put
the time and effort into monthly meetings and this is a way

Hi Carlo,
I understand you are busy but you mentioned you would post comment over the

I would appreciate a response to my concerns and queries, that I posted on

I'll itemise my three main concerns / questions that have not been responded to

G'day Daniel.
No offence taken, nor even thought about.
I enjoy reading your posts when you explain things. After all, you're the
wizard and I'm just happy cruising through at the lower levels. You know my
knowledge - when they mentioned a couple of domains, I got all excited

Hi All, I'm quite happy with WAMUG as an acronym for the group, so,
for those who want to emphasize the Apple connection, why not change
the way WAMUG is interpreted? Just off the top of my head, say, the
Westralian Apple Multidevice User Group? I'm sure others can improve
on this..

I would have thought the name WAMUG had some value,(commercial). it is
certainly known throughout the world as we found out when travelling through
Canada and the USA, UK. I really think we need to think long and hard before
changing it. A teenager ,or so he looked to me in The Beautiful Glass
I've ummmered and aed about replying to this, and whether to or not,…but
well, obviously trom my post I am about to…..
First off, this is not meant to in any way to cause offence, or be seen to be
having a go, especially to you Pete and I apologise up front if it seems that
way. I also

Hi WAMUGers,
Well, I have said Hi WAMUGers another time ;-)
I've been giving some more thought to this and watching the list and comments
and pondering the following, which I haven't seen answered as yet, so will

OOPS ... I forgot another point I did hint at it my first post to the list.
In the post from the Committee it was mentioned having to explain the WAMUG
name. Isn't this sort of doing the right thing, as it's getting them
enquiring about it.
Once you've got them asking what it is, you then
To quote a (very) famous writer,

so what if we change the name, the people still stay the same.
If more people connect because of a different name isn't that better?

Hi Ronni and all other WAMUGGERS.
I'd just like to address two points from a personal perspective to put your
minds at ease.
1. Domain name. Knowing that the name change would invoke healthy public
debate on a public forum and also knowing that there are people out there (not
WAMUGGERS!!)
Mi Muggers,
There a many interesting points below I would like to comment on. I am mired
down in family issues and preparation for delivery of a UWA test tomorrow so
haven't had a spare moment. I will post on the week end.
Regards,
Carlo

1 Thank you Pete for clarifying the Special Meeting requirements. Unless
specified otherwise in the Constitution (Rules) then the Act, as you
say, prevails and 28 days apply.
2 As suggested by Ronni the legal use of the word Apple does need
further exploration.
3 Has the 'no
I have some reservations about the proposed name change. Efficient marketing
can sell any name, and history IS important.
Aside from the necessity of carefully considering of the points raised by
Ronni, Merv and others, and assuming WAMUG must be replaced, I think Shayne's
suggestion of WA

I applaud the committee initiatives proposed in order to broaden WAMUG's reach
and expand membership.
The name change proposed is pragmatic and logical and like all names it will
become the acronym AUWA which says no more to the uninitiated than does WAMUG.
I remember in the earliest email
Heh Heh.
Maybe it should be WA Apple Users (WAAU) pronounced Wow... sort of... :-)

Hi Muggers,
As you know the WAMUG Committee is working hard to increase the availability of
our service to Apple users. A number of our recent meetings have included well
received hands on demonstrations in addition to the traditional segment for
problem solving and the sharing of ideas.
Hi Committee fellow Muggers,
there used to be business cards many years ago, mid 90s, saw some at the Apple
shop in EastPerth, when it was near Royal Perth Hospital! (they had the newly
released (original iMacs! too), is that dating me?)
Rebranding - sounds good, clear precise, as you stated

I have no problems with the proposed name change. May even try to make the
October meeting (wouldn't hurt me to attend once a year). The Apple-Q site
certainly gives us some ideas to think about.

Hi Committee
There could be a problem with holding a Special Meeting on 2 October.
Check in our Constitution. Usually Special Meetings require a 28 day
notice with the item to be considered detailed in that notice.
