Orville, this is a goood question. The hymns are just about my favorite
part of TAGS. Two of my favorites are from Man in a Hurry when Aunt Bee is
on the porch rocking and humming Rock of Ages, and another is from Sermon
for Today where the congregation sings Holy Spirit, Power Divine. I have
a
Well,Paul, that is a challenging question indeed! I have no idea, and am
looking forward to seeing what folks have to say.
I have a resolution, though--to watch more TAGS!
Happy New Year!

For a beauty pageant, I'd go with David's top three. But if we're talking
prettiest girl in town, then it's Charlene (even though she's technically
not in town), Thelma Lou, and Karen Burgess (her appearance in The
Rivals). Karen is just an angel in that episode--and those crinolines...!

only one wish, I'd wish to set out on the porch at
Andy's house. I'd love to hear Aunt Bee hum Rock of Ages and sing along
with Andy and Barn...I wouldn't be all keyed up or rush rush rush down to
the drugstore.

I always imagined she was saying Zoweee, like oh boy or yippee. I figure
it was the hipster thing to say in Mayberry at the time.

Ooo those up-the-arm gloves are seriously elegant! As a young girl in the
60's, I had white gloves for church, though they didn't stay white too
long. Thinking about gloves brought something else to mind I haven't worn
for awhile--was anyone seen wearing a muff in Mayberry?
When I grow up I want to be Miss Peggy. (specially how she can sing on the
porch and make it sound like she's in a recording studio) ...roses love
sunshine, violets love dew..
If I were a drinkin' woman, I'd want to try a Sazerac. And I would sample
the snails and not let them go on by.

At work, I supervise a dozen or so fine young folks in their early 20s.
Yesterday's weekly meeting was a treat for me, when they spent several
minutes unknowingly re-enacting the looks spidery to me scene from Sermon
for Today. They were going on about how many spiders probably live under
there
warmth, to a couple of guys who need some homemaking help, just because she
enjoys doing it.
And when she sings on the porch, it sounds like she's in a recording studio.

Thanks for asking. I think I'd like to be Sam's wife--he's a great

Hi all! It's great to be back in Mayberry. I've been a list member since
97, though I haven't always read the digest. Sometimes that's the problem,
it's just rush, rush, rush. (You know, she's right.)
I've been reading regularly again lately, and I was de-lily-lighted to see
this tribute from

this is not about Andy's grandkids as asked about in a recent digest but I just
have to share this gem. A few weeks ago I had my grandkids Alex age 7 Katelyn
age 4 with me in the car and it just so happened Andy Griffith's CD was playing
... the one where he tells all the stories like What it
butter references that anyone can think of ...
this might make a good string for the digest. If they can celebrate National
Potato Day and Sir Walter Raleigh Day then I guess we can celebrate National
Peanut Butter Day. I'm sure Leon would be for it.

Maybe this has been posted before but has anybody ever seen Mr. Schwump on any
other shows or movies? It's a 'rare bird in this world' that nobody knows the
name of the actor who played him. Cathy a.k.a. Skippy, one of Mayberry's fun

mentioned Andy Griffith or some of its characters. It was something like My
