With recent talk of Don Knotts, I thought I would share my experiences with
him. Two of our chapter members had gone to MGM at Disney with me to
witness his handprint ceremony but due to weather it was cancelled. An
attendant noticed our shirts and asked if we'd like to meet him backstage so
Gary, you are one talented dude! That Halloween video was a scream As
for Halloween references, I believe Goober once said he guards the cannon on
that night or kids put banana peelings in it or some such.

I saw a blurb on CNN yesterday while in a waiting room; the story was about
a small town in Calif, I believe they said Pico Rivera or some such, that is
known as the Latino Mayberry due to its hometown good ole' American values.

Methinks the writers were out to lunch for a few weeks at that time!

Watching a DVD last night, I noticed Andy saying his first real job was for
old man MacKnight at the movie theater. I believe he also uses this name on
a CD. Knowing his penchant for using names and places in Mt. Airy, I was

IMHO Mary Grace would've been a welcome addition but Uncle Ollie and Aunt
Nora, not to mention their rambunctious boys, would've been too irritating

Had two Mayberry moments the other day while flipping thru the channels. In
Bachelor Flat, there was our Floyd, in a striped robe, fussing about
something. Then in A Life of Her Own, you could hear the strains of Good

I was watching some colour episodes yesterday and couldn't decipher a word

I believe the town of Mayberry merely offered a perk to Andy so that he

There are so many expressions I employ from the show that I've lost track.
Most of my family and friends realize this after all these years but if they
look the least bit confused, I just say That's a Mayberryism! As for Don
Knotts' appearances or lack thereof, he was once quoted as saying

On the Lawrence Welk Show tonight, Ava Barber was interviewed and said she
had a special fan in North Carolina; turns out that when she was helping the
PBS station there in fund-raising, Andy called the station to tell her how
much he admired her voice. Ava got choked up and teary-eyed and

around to it till after he went to Heaven. Here in FL we have the problem

My condolences to those who have suffered thru icy winter conditions. In
Florida we have blackouts due to hurricanes and other storms. So I invested
in a whole-house generator a couple years ago and it is worth it! Within a

She broke her leg and just came thru the surgery. The dr is hopeful that

My least favorite episodes are the one in which the Boone couple are always
fighting; just breaks my heart to see a non-loving marriage; and Senior Play
too. That whole premise of having to accept whatever dance craze was
