I was trying to test the error messages of my server
(apache: ErrorDocument 404 )
but unfortunately could not download those error messages generated by
my server with wget since the server sends a 404 code if a page is
missing (that's what I wanted to test), wget does not save the

Actually, I find it surprising that AIX's strdup would have such a
bug, and that it would go undetected. It is possible that the problem
lies elsewhere and that the change is just masking the real bug.

GNU Wget 1.10.2, and it's more an inconsitency than a bug.
Basically, if something goes wrong with the network connection
while downloading recursively, wget will time-out as expected, but

I am a big fan of your wget program. I use it to download some big gz files,
and tried to use -N to skip the same version. Although the local file is
exactly the same as that in FTP site, wget will keep downloading it by
saying that the file size is different. An example is as follows:

When we get an index file for an ftp url (wget ftp://.) there is a
generation error when the time of the file is 00:00: the time column is
empty.
In the same manner, when the file is old (more than 6 month), the year
is normally replacing the time but it is also generated empty
It works fine from here (209.98.249.184, Wget 1.10.2a1, VMS Alpha
V7.3-2). If it hangs for you, it could be that firewall. It's easy
enough to block port 80 and pass "ping". Does any browser work? I
suspect not.

Unlike IE, Wget doesn't show error responses to the user, so it can't
follow the redirect embedded in HTML. (And Wget doesn
irror them. Therefore, I have set up an ErrorDocument in
apache that on 404 errors redirects to another page. The second page, then
determines the referring URI and serves up the correct rpm. This works
fine if I'm using internet explorer, but wget gives me a 404 error :-( For
