I am using thunderbird as well but must be doing something wrong. I have
a gmail account just set up but it would be easiest for me just to stick
to one mail client only. I am using thunderbird version 1.5 on linux.
How do I monitor a number of interesting threads in Thunderbird? What I
do now is
Is there any way in thunderbird to view only the interesting threads
Never tried (I don't think Watch Thread and Ignore Thread work outside
NNTP?)
I simply recognize my interesting threads by color (i.e. label) and then
use 'N' to locate/read the next unread message.
This works on the thread

I used thunderbird as mail client, and reading the user list was taking a lot of time. It was hard to follow the discussions, and don't get me started about getting back from 3 weeks of beach leisure. When I got to gmail, my mailinglist reading went down to 10% of the time it used to take. You can

Just curious... why?
This (complicated on purpose) picture shows:
a) a visited thread with an unread message
b) a totally unread thread
c) a totally read and closed (for me) thread
d) an important (for me) visited thread with an unread message inside (I
Agree with Gustavo, Thunderbird is without question a great
thread-oriented mail client, and it's for free. Moreover, you can
carry it all in your memory stick, as achieved with this version:

;)
Yes, but you have to open each individual message inside the thread.
With gmail I can read all responses in one thread by just scrolling my
mousewheel.

This is really a good point.
You loose the conversation this way (i.e. who is answering who) but I

Hi,
I am having more and more difficulty following the mail discussions. I
need a mail client that supports watching mail threads.

Use gmail. Works perfect. If you don't have an account, let me know so

I use Thunderbird, threaded view.
I don't know if it's true, but I was told that gmail requires subjects
to stay unchanged in order to group threads.
(seems to be the case in this list, anyway)

I'm not a fan of gmail because all of your list mail is all bunched up in with all of your other lists. Labels just don't replace folders IMHO.Ayway, I just wanted to try changing the subject to see if a new thread was started. That seems like a bad move because of all the RE and spacing issues
LOL, just tried the same thing. Now what if I change the subject back to the original? On 9/13/06, Igor Vaynberg

there is a trick to the labels.assign each list a label, then do archive - skip inbox, and your list gets its own folder-IgorOn 9/13/06,
