Re: [Zappa-List] Re: VO:1969 Amougies EURO-Vine
Damn! Sorry Listers.I was just sent, maybe 3 days ago, a set of shows in flac format. It had the capt beefheart john peel doc as an extra included. Who sent me that one? What was the vine title? and Who is next? I have lost the plot with this one! It certainly isn't as titled in this subject line, as that was meant to come from Nick. Re: [Zappa-List] Re: VO: Frank Zappa - Chalk Pie - 1CD Audio
Yes, that's was accepted between Les and I on the list Saturday...My mistakeIt wasn't meant to be a critical message...it was meant to be a friendly prompt that was in made in errorplus I wanted his mailing address for a pending vine, and although I had previously emailed him through the list, I knew that comment was guaranteed to catch eyes...lol...looks like I was right there! - Original Message - From: Conehead To: Zappa-List@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, April 03, 2006 1:51 PM Subject: [Zappa-List] Re: VO: Frank Zappa - Chalk Pie - 1CD Audio Richard,as much as I agree with you that everybody who is re-offering vines to the group should always check carefully for past messages with the correct remaining vine order,in this case both Chalk Pie and KPFT Houston & Crush All Boxes seem to have reached the end of the line with Les. As far as I can tell (checking all messages back to April 2005 by using the search mode with "Houston" and "Chalk Pie" as keywords), there is no-one q-ing up for either vine. So, in this instance, Les was right in offering both vines to the group the way he did, i.e. to the first one responding off-list (with his address) AND on-list (with his name plus country code).Hope I didn't overlook anybody waiting for these copies. Re: [Zappa-List] RE: EuroVine - PINK FLOYD WITH ZAPPA @ AMOUGIES
yep, the track sequence got me too? Bloody quick postman! I am impressed. - Original Message - From: Les Watts To: Zappa-List@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, April 04, 2006 9:04 PM Subject: [Zappa-List] RE: EuroVine - PINK FLOYD WITH ZAPPA @ AMOUGIES Hi Folks, Thanks to Richard Moore, this disc is safely with me and will be going to Thierry as soon as I get his address. The Euro vine currently stands as follows (to the best of my knowledge): <<< thierry barbier-fr > ( correque46@ ) << Neil (UK)<< Federico Valdes [EMAIL PROTECTED].> net << Luis (AR) [EMAIL PROTECTED] <<??? Please do not confuse this with the US vine also doing the rounds - some of the previous posts are a nightmare to follow! I've taken the liberty of re-naming the subject heading slightly to try and avoid further confusion. (By the way, I've no idea why the track sequence starts at track 4.) Cheers Les. Details: Another offering from the Actuel Fest at Amougies on 25th October 1969.This time it is the whole of the Pink Floyd contribution with Zappa joining the group for a mamoth "Interstellar Overdrive", preceded by Zappa and the Floyd tuning up.This has been speed corrected, the version that is making its rounds at present is 8-10% too fast.We also have here amazing versions of "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" and "Saucerful of Secrets", where we can here the reason why Zappa admired the Floyd so much. This FLAC version also contains mono versions of Dylan's "Blond on Blonde" and "Bringin' it all back home". All artwork for the Amougies is included. Pink Floyd - 1969-10-25, Festival Actuel, Amougies, Belgium, Aud initial distribution of the audience tape was mastered slow, this version has been SPEED-CORRECTED.length: 75:07 4. Astronomy Domine 9:34 (was 10:53) 5. Green In The Colour 3:44 soundtrack source 6. Careful With That Axe, Eugene 9:35 soundtrack source 7. tuning up with Frank Zappa 2:44 (was 2:48) 8. Interstellar Overdrive 20:23 (was 21:03) 9. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun 11:03 soundboard/FM source10. A Saucerful Of Secrets 18:02 (was 18:36) David Gilmour - guitar & vocalsRichard Wright - organRoger Waters - bass & vocalsNick Mason - drumswith Frank Zappa - guitar (7 & 8) NB-- for this disc, the audience recordings of "Green Is The Colour" and "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" were patched with the more common soundboard source, taken from a documentary film soundtrack. "Set The Controls" does not appear in the film but is taken from a later FM broadcast of the same soundboard tape.1:45 of mostly dead air was edited from "Set The Controls" prior to broadcast, thus is missing here. A minute or so of dead air was edited from the end of Astronomy" for this disc as well.FLAC copies should include the audience recordings of "Green", "Eugene" and "Set The Controls" in a separate folder for whomever is interested. Certainly if you have a high speed connection there is a huge amount of FZ shows available at easytree. Just to inform the group that I received the master disks for this yesterday and both had a 1/2 inch split from the centre out and are unplayable. Looks like the mailman dropped a heavy package on it and the disks got hit by it's corner, as the envelope has a matching hole. The packaging it was sent in was strong enough for normal purposes, it's just this mailman was too good! Well done Royal or US mail, whoever you are!
