Merle,
I've stayed out of that discussion, but as you know I do sit (zazen) on a
fairly regular schedule.
I couldn't argue with you though. You can realize Buddha Nature through
virtually any activity including zazen, walking in the forest and creating art
- and lots of other things too
Bill!,br/br/Thing is tho, not all meditation leads to the same thing. Some
simply calm the mind (mantras, chanting, jhanas etc) and others lead to insight
wisdom. Although many arts have come out of Zen (martial, calligraphy, flower
arranging etc), all the masters of those arts have in common
Mike,
Yes, I was just saying that virtually any action COULD lead to realization of
Buddha Nature, or be an expression of Buddha Nature.
Of course they might not be also. It depends on your state of mind ...or state
of no-mind.
This even applies to zazen. Just because you're sitting

Hi Mel,
Reading your words below reminds me why I've never looked for a guru. There

Good post with which I'm pretty much in agreement. Zen, or satori, is
certainly nothing above anyone's head as it is the natural state of
all
being. Satori is simply a matter of looking and seeing what is

Hi folks,
I am new here and have a basic question. How is zazen different from
vipassana meditation? I practice the latter each day, sitting and not
grasping any thoughts, emotions, experience, etc, and this seems
similar to zazen.
But, I read someone on-line who adamantly said that vipassana
