Something like this in zonecfg should do the trick:
add fs
set dir=/mnt
set special=/mnt
set type=lofs
add options rw

Hi All,
I have one simple question:
Is there a way to carry forward the external mount's in global zone to
all the non-global zone on that particular system?
e.g. If I mount something on /mnt of global, how it can be made visible
in all non-global zones of that machine?
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Hi
We are trying to install java into a non global zone.
We are having trouble creating the file
/usr/share/gnome/mime-info/java-archive.keys
My feeling is that this is cause by the following bit of config but I am
fairly new to zones. How can I get round it.
inherit-pkg-dir:

I'm not really familiar with the debian release taxonomy, so I don't know
the right names. I'm referring to the release(s) that were
Thanks Bob, this helped me get a few steps closer!
I was able to install debian without any errors.
But it hangs when I try to boot it.
It says it was unable to mount the root filesystem..
/etc/fstab looked similar to the one in a centos zone.
I thought ok, let's have a look at a installed cent

A question that I repeatedly get from customers is directly
related to what you write:
S10 is still a very dynamic
release so the interpositioning layer would need constant
work to cope with the on-going changes in the
kernel/user-land boundary.
Is this interface not limited to a fix

IMHO, brandZ for s8,s9 s10, linux would be great.
This way the global zone almost act like "control zone" or dom0
and brandZ would act like appliance that can move between different hosts.
U get amost xen like feature but without the "overhead"
my 2c

The idea has merit, although I'm not sure you can't get most of this effect
with big zones, and careful application of patches and packages.
Although, an entirely automated form of this as a branded zone would give would
be great. Yes, we have to manage patches independently, and have to do

Pedro,
Yes it is, although it is up to you to ensure that the
combination will work ok. You might create a combination
of global zone and non-global zone where the NGZ does
not work or works in incorrect ways.
Hello,
Congratulations on a job well done.

when i read the details, i think we need a solaris 10 branded zone.
with a branded zone the central patching from the global zone is not applied.
there is no SUNW_PKG_ALLZONES package for a branded zone (lin
