Actually I don't really need 2.7.1 and, in fact, I have already been using
2.7 for quite some time.

The only reason that I posted the question on the board was that I am new to
Python and the whole installation process.

When I saw that 2.7.1 had just been released yesterday I thought it would be
nice to install the latest version.  When I was puzzled as to the lack of a
self-contained installer for the Mac, I posted the question.

But, you're right, I can certainly stick with 2.7
