SML: Hood Scoops (was CAI's)

What is it to understand?  It is cheaper yet better. 
If you have the money, then go with the scoop.  For
all of us, we will stick with CAI.

The idea for the CAI is to bring "cooler than engine
compartment" air into the the intake of a motor. I
understand this. What I don't understand is why it is
cheaper to buy a CAI instead of using the power of
hood scoops.
