We just installed RC ported throttle body to project 1.6. We had it opened
up from 50mm to 55mm and ported the intake manifold. After driving it around
it seemed faster. It seemed to have more torque and be more responsive. It
was all because of the fact that at the same throttle position you get more
air due to the fact that the throttle body flows more air now at that same
position. Does this make sense? So 1/4 throttle is now flowing more air and
fuel than before. Anyway, I took it to the dyno and got no more peak power!
This is with the JWT cams too but, power under the curve was higher. The car
use to make 112 and above from 5800-6500. A range of 700 rpm. Now it makes
112 and above starting at 5500-7000. A range of 1500 rpm. This is power under
the curve. You can't go by peak numbers only. I think this mod will make a
bigger difference with head work.
