this mod

Jay,
How can you uncondtionaly recommend a mod that won't
do anything for the performance of 99% of the people
on the list?
Although I commend your inovation and thought that you
put into figuring this mod out, it does not really do
the list good to recomend that everyone do it as there
are many conditions that go along with it.
On 1995 and up cars, by putting on a SE-R TB you
disable the fast idle cam and fast idle control device
which controls idle under warmup conditions. You can
also screw up the charcol cannister purge function.
These issues present potential driveabilty problems
especialy when the engine is cold.
Also a big TB only helps when you reach a certain
point in modifications. It is not something that one
should do first. In fact you need to do the header,
exhaust, CAI, ECU, Pullies, camshafts AND THEN you can
think about a larger TB.
Until you can have the abilty to rev past 6900 rpm and
the Volumetric Efficency to produce over 115 wheel hp,
their is no differences in power between a big TB and
the stock TB.
Sure the throttle response is better at low rpm due to
a bigger percentage of throttle opening per inch of
pedal stroke but I think people's money and efforts
are better spent getting the basic bolt ons first.
If you dynoed your car, you would find zero power
gain.
