RK, The sales person clearly *lied* to you. How about taking the ME CD back, (maybe the computer too), and tell him he is guilty of false advertising/marketing (or whatever the legal term is), and he needs to exchange the ME with either WIN98SE (my preference), or WIN2000 (installed). He should install it for you, to compensate for your inconvenience. If he balks, I am sure the better business bureau, or whatever their equivalent in the US, would be happy to hear of his lies and corruption.
Once this change is made, you should have a computer you can use for quite some time thereafter. (Longer with Linux) :o) Cheers, Jorgen [EMAIL PROTECTED] ps - I often hear of people who start out being happy with XP, - but later hate it. XP is reputed to be very buggy, and extremely insecure.
