Connectivity is available in a wide area in principle via satellite,
however the latency will bad, since routed via geostationary (80000 km
ping). Otoh, by the time you retire there might be affordable
global coverage with a LEO constellation (Iridium is up and
operational and has been for a while, but I wouldn't call it
affordable).

Something to consider: elderly can stand the heat less, and air
conditioning is not for everybody. Also, you might to have to
make allowances for industrialization and city growth -- much
will happen within 30 years, or so.
