I read both the article and watched the talk. The takeaway seemed to be "a high fructose (without fiber) diet is a high fat diet".
Let me go with the premise that we will be more careful with our sugar consumption. So then, what can we do about the sugar we *do* need to add to our regular food? Are alternatives like brown sugar or jaggery any better than white refined sugar?
